Department of Management and International Business
Innovative experiential learning methods are a hallmark of the department. Faculty members use problem-solving projects, case studies, team exercises, class discussions, and contemporary training methods so students can learn to succeed as managers. Interpersonal communications, conflict resolution, team development, creative problem solving, and effective leadership skills are bolstered by a solid conceptual foundation in organizational behavior, human resources, organizational change and development, managerial ethics, and cross-cultural management challenges.
Special Features
Management
majors receive a solid foundation in management theory as well as theoretical
and practical knowledge in a particular field. Students learn to integrate
theory into the practical aspects of management. They may customize their
programs to fit their specific career interests or choose from two
professional tracks, Human Resource Management or Entrepreneurial Management:
- Human Resource Management: One of the decade's 10 fastest-growing careers, human resource management offers students the knowledge and skills they need to manage people. Topics include creativity, ethics, organizational politics, leadership, teamwork, and training.
- Entrepreneurial Management: With an emphasis on the planning, financing, and operating of new ventures, entrepreneurial management drives economic growth. Students learn to conceptualize new ideas, analyze the feasibility of plans, coordinate business operations, and evaluate the sale of businesses. This track is coordinated through the Joseph C. Prince Entrepreneurship Program.
