What You Need to Know

Before you proceed, make sure you submit the admissions application to Stetson University first to kick-start the application process. Once it is submitted, you can then do the following:

Business Programs (MAcc, MBA) 

  • Fall - July 15 (final deadline for international students is June 1)
  • Spring - December 1
  • Summer - April 1

Counseling Programs (MS)

  • Fall - February 1
  • Spring - August 30

Creative Writing (MFA)

  • Winter - October 1
  • Summer - April 1

Educational Leadership (MEd)

  • Fall - July 15
  • Spring - December 1

Educational Specialist (EdS)

  • Spring - December 1

Exceptional Student Education (MEd)

  • Summer - April 1

Higher Education Administration and Supervision (MS)

  • Fall - July 15

Official transcripts from all colleges and universities are required for enrollment. Students must have earned an undergraduate degree or master’s degree from a college or university with institutional accreditation.

Official transcripts can also be ordered through Parchment, eScrip or SCOIR and delivered electronically to Stetson University. The Office of Admissions mailing address and fax number are located at the bottom of this page.

All School of Business Administration graduate programs require the following:

  • $50 application fee

  • Two references - Each reference must include a name and contact information.

  • Resume - Your resume should include your professional and educational history.

  • Personal Statement - Your statement must address career goals, reasons for pursuing the program and why you would like to attend Stetson University.

Both the Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling programs require the following set of admissions requirements:

  • $50 application fee

  • Recommendations - Three professional or academic letters of recommendation.

  • Professional Resume - Your resume should include your professional and educational history.

  • Applicant Statement

  • Counselor Education Information Video - As required by CACREP, prior to attending the Preview and Interview Event, applicants must watch a 50-minute video as an introduction to Stetson's Counselor Education programs. 

  • Interview and Timed written statement - Both are fulfilled during the required Graduate Preview and Interview Day

*Upon admittance to the program, a $300 non-refundable deposit is required to save your seat.

Each of the College of Arts and Sciences educational graduate programs has a different set of admissions requirements:

Educational Leadership (MEd)

The program requirements are:

  • $50 application fee

  • Professional Resume

  • Applicant Statement

  • Three letters of recommendation; one of the forms must be completed by the applicant's current principal

  • Copy of professional teaching certificate

  • 2+ years of most current Performance Evaluations

  • One of the following:
    • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better OR,
    • Upper-division GPA of 3.0 or better

Modified Educational Leadership (Certificate)

The program requirements are:

  • $50 application fee

  • A master's degree from a regionally accredited university

  • 1 letter of recommendation from a supervisor

  • Professional Resume

  • Applicant Statement

  • 2+ years of teaching experience

Exceptional Student Education (MEd)

The program requirements are:

  • $50 application fee

  • Professional Resume

  • Applicant Statement

  • Three letters of recommendation

  • Copy of professional teaching certificate

  • One of the following:
    • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better OR,
    • Upper-division GPA of 3.0 or better OR,
    • GPA of 3.0 or better in the last 60 credits in college OR,
    • 12+ credits of post-baccalaureate work at 300 level or above with a GPA of 3.0+ OR,
    • A GRE score in the 50th percentile or a MAT at or above the 50th percentile

Educational Specialist (EdS)

The program requirements are:

  • $50 application fee

  • Master's Degree from a Regionally Accredited Institution

  • Professional Resume

  • Applicant Statement

  • Three letters of recommendation; one of the forms must be completed by the applicant's current principal/supervisor

Higher Education Administration and Supervision (MS)

The program requirements are:

  • $50 application fee

  • Three professional and/or academic letters of recommendation that can speak to your success in a graduate program

  • Professional Resume

  • Applicant Statement

  • One of the following:
    • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better OR,
    • Upper-division GPA of 3.0 or better

The Creative Writing program requirements are:

  • $50 application fee

  • Two Professional letters of recommendation

  • Work Sample
    • Poetry in an Expanded Field: 5-8 work samples (text, image, sound, video, or combination thereof)
    • Prose: 1-4 work samples (15-page minimum, 20-page maximum; narrative samples must be double-spaced)
    • Exploratory Path: 4-8 work samples, a combination of genres and forms

  • Applicant Statement

JD/MBA with Stetson Law

To participate in the JD/MBA program, you must first apply to the College of Law and successfully be admitted. Upon completion of your first year of law studies, you may then apply to add the MBA degree to your program. You must be admitted into the JD program, offered by the College of Law, and the MBA program, offered by Stetson's School of Business Administration, independently. All entrance requirements for both programs must be satisfied.

When applying to the MBA program, you may request that copies of your transcripts, recommendation letters and LSAT scores be sent from the College of Law to the Office of Graduate Admissions, which will also require an official copy of your transcript from the College of Law reflecting your progress in the JD program. Transcripts and LSAT scores are sent from the registrar's office at the College of Law and the recommendation letters are sent from the admission office at the College of Law.

MHA/MBA with AdventHealth University

Application to the MHA/MBA program is integrated into the Stetson MBA application process. When you select the MHA/MBA program option in the MBA application, upon completion of your application, your file will be reviewed by the graduate committees at both Stetson and AdventHealth University for an admission decision.

MS in Pharmacy/MBA with University of Florida

To participate in the MS in Pharmacy/MBA program, you must first apply to the University of Florida's Online Pharmacy program and successfully be admitted. Upon completion of your first semester, you may then apply to add the MBA degree to your program. You must be admitted into the Pharmacy program, offered by the University of Florida, and the MBA program, offered by Stetson's School of Business Administration, independently. All entrance requirements for both programs must be satisfied.

When applying to the MBA program, official transcripts can be sent to the Graduate Admissions office. Further requirements include a Letter of Recommendation from the University of Florida's Pharmacy program.

The following additional requirements apply to international applicants and domestic applicants who attended foreign institutions:

Submit your transcripts

Official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities attended as well as a listing of courses in progress that includes course names, course numbers and numbers of credit hours.

If the grading and evaluation system used by the foreign institution's education system differ from those used by the United States education system, you must provide official translation and a course-by-course evaluation of undergraduate/graduate degree studies. Take an English proficiency test

All applicants for admission whose native language is not English are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and submit a score of 90 or better on the Internet-based test or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and submit a score of 7.0. Please contact the Office of Graduate Studies for additional information; the office's contact information is at right.

Submit immigration forms

Upon admission, WORLD: The David and Leighan Rinker Center for International Learning will assist students in obtaining a student visa. To issue the U.S. Immigration Form I-20 "Certificate of Eligibility," the department must have on file acceptable documentation and evidence showing that the admitted student has funds to pay for the first year of study at Stetson University. The student should keep a copy of this financial documentation as he/she will need to present it at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate as part of the visa application procedure.
