The Office of Student Financial Aid is committed to helping make higher education affordable to our students. This aid complements state and federal funds available to students.

Keep in mind that though we've listed some scholarships below, there are many other scholarship opportunities out there. We encourage you to search the Internet for opportunities and apply to any to which you qualify. Stetson University student financial aid awards in academic year 2023-2024:

Merit-based Scholarships

These scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the high school record, standardized testing and community service. These awards are given to incoming first-year students and will cover eight semesters or until undergraduate graduation, whichever comes first. The scholarships can range up to $35,000 for the Presidential Scholarship, typically awarded to students with a strong record of academic achievement. Eligibility for these awards is decided by the admissions committee upon completion of your application. Merit Scholarships are not guaranteed to all students.

  • Presidential Scholarship (up to $35,000)
  • Dean's Scholarship (up to $29,000)
  • Faculty-Merit Scholarship (up to $26,000)

Transfer Scholarships

Recipients of this award will receive the funding for up to 8 semesters or until they have completed the program requirements. Semester eligibility will be determined with consideration given to the number of transfer credits accepted toward their program and as detailed in the student's scholarship agreement.

Bright Futures

For qualifying Florida high school graduates, there are opportunities for state scholarship funding. Stetson accepts two levels of Bright Futures: the Florida Academic Scholar and Florida Medallion Scholar. For more information about the Florida Bright Futures program, please visit the Florida Department of Education, Grants and Scholarships. Please note that the final determination of Florida Bright Futures eligibility is determined by the State of Florida upon receipt of a final high school transcript and standardized test scores. Florida Bright Futures are estimated pending final notification of eligibility each July.

Talent and Service Scholarships

Students who qualify for music scholarships include music majors, music minors and non-music majors participating in the School of Music. The award amounts vary and are dependent on an audition. Please contact the School of Music admission recruiter at 800-688-0101 ext. 8975 to schedule an audition or see the music admissions webpage.

Athletic scholarships are extremely competitive and are provided for a variety of sports. Interested students should contact a coach or the Athletics Department for additional information.

Students participate in the Stetson University ROTC program and are selected for a scholarship through the program.

ROTC Scholarships

The Sullivan Writing Scholarship Program at Stetson University assists academically qualified undergraduate students with strong writing skills to attend the university. Preference is given to English majors or English Creative Writing minors with demonstrated strengths in creative writing. To apply for this scholarship, you must first apply to Stetson University via our Early Decision (November 1), Early Action (November 15) or Rolling Decision plan. The deadline to submit this scholarship application is December 1.

The Lawson Scholarship at Stetson University assists academically qualified students. Preference is given to students in Philosophy or related majors with a demonstrated interest in community service and a commitment to principled citizenship. To apply for this scholarship, you must first apply to Stetson University via our Early Decision (November 1), Early Action (November 15), or Rolling Decision plan. The deadline to submit this scholarship application is December 1.

The Values Fellowships are designed to enhance the way Stetson lives our values and to assist in recruiting and retaining the best-fit students for Stetson. To qualify, students must have a 3.5 GPA. To apply for this scholarship, you must first apply to Stetson University via our Early Decision (November 1), Early Action (November 15), or Rolling Decision plan. The deadline to submit this scholarship application is December 1.

The Dr. Richard Libby Endowed Shooting Scholarship recognizes outstanding high school and college students who have demonstrated outstanding shooting performance.

A $1,000 Scholarship is available for the 2024-25 academic year. It is renewable for three years, provided the student remains in good academic and shooting team standing. Team dues will also be waived for active scholarship recipients. Dues cover weekly range practice (ammo and clays), uniform, and competition fees, ammo, lodging and some meals.

Scholarship Requirements:

To receive the scholarship, students must be accepted for admission and enrolled at Stetson University. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 minimum grade point average, attend 95% of team practices and attend all team competitions.

To Apply:

In addition to completing a Stetson University Application for Admission, scholarship applicants are asked to please submit the following to the Assistant Director of Sport Programs, Travis Potter, at [email protected]:

  • A statement of the applicant's aspirations for lifelong shooting and the role that shooting has played in the applicant's development as an individual
  • Prior shooting involvement, including major shooting competition participation, round averages, awards received, and preferred shooting disciplines
  • One letter of recommendation from a shooting coach, mentor, or range safety officer

The LaValle Creative Arts Scholarship is awarded to devoted and disciplined students of the arts majoring in a Creative Arts discipline (Studio Art, Art History, Digital Arts or Theatre Arts). LaValle Scholar-Artists will demonstrate a passion for honing their talent in a liberal arts setting. Their application materials will establish that they have tremendous potential to interpret the world around them and to communicate that interpretation in a particular art medium. This full scholarship is awarded to first-year, transfer or FTIC students. 

To apply for this scholarship, you must first apply to Stetson University via our Early Decision (November 1), Early Action (November 15) or Rolling Decision plan. The deadline to submit this scholarship application is December 1.

Bonner Scholars and Leaders receive financial assistance and scholarships from Stetson University and the Bonner Foundation. Strong candidates will have a track record of involvement and leadership in addressing major areas of social justice, including poverty, education, homelessness and civil rights. As an expectation of this scholarship, these students commit eight hours per week to a service project or agency of their choice and must continue with that service relationship throughout their Stetson University career. To apply for this scholarship, you must first apply to Stetson University via our Early Decision (November 1), Early Action (November 15), or Rolling Decision plan. The deadline to submit this scholarship application is December 1.

The Whitehead Scholars program is a donor-funded, need-based scholarship community giving young women the opportunity to deepen and integrate their education through required work and service along with guided goal-setting and reflection by academic year. The purpose of this program at Stetson is to prepare students who will strive, in the spirit of Mrs. Whitehead, to improve the communities in which they live, work and serve. Along with work and service, students participate in activities on campus and one-on-one meetings with the Coordinator that encourage them to think of their education with a holistic perspective, supporting students in a four-year process of self-appraisal. Consistent with in the institution-wide mission, it is also the goal of the Whitehead Scholars to make an excellent private liberal arts education accessible to talented students from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds. Students can apply for the Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship by completing a Scholarship Profile in Scholarship Manager.

A portion of the Lettie Pate Whitehead scholarship may partially fund an institutional merit or need-based grant award.

Stetson Scholarships

This is an academically competitive scholarship that pays all expenses for students who exhibit top academic and personal leadership potential. It includes a summer internship stipend which can be transferred to a study abroad program. In order to qualify, you must have a high school GPA of 3.5 or above, a combined SAT score of at least 1350 (critical reading and math), or an ACT composite score of at least 30. To apply for this scholarship, you must first apply to Stetson University via our Early Decision (November 1), Early Action (November 15), or Rolling Decision plan. The deadline to submit this scholarship application is December 1.

An undergraduate applicant to Stetson University is considered to have legacy status and eligible for the legacy award if a member of the applicant's family is currently enrolled or attended and graduated from any branch of Stetson (including the graduate and/or law school). Family is defined as a brother, sister, parent, stepparent, grandparent, aunt, uncle and/ or legal guardian. Scholarships are available for 4 years or undergraduate graduation - whichever is first. Eligible students must have applied and have been accepted by February 15th. Students are only eligible to apply prior to their first semester at Stetson. Any student-athlete who will be receiving athletic aid is not eligible for this scholarship. Any athlete in an equivalency sport with a signed Grant in Aid is not eligible to receive this scholarship.

Stetson University provides a scholarship for students who participate in the Stetson HATS program prior to attending Stetson as a full-time student. This scholarship will be added to your student account automatically and will be offered for 4 years or undergraduate graduation, whichever is first. Students are only eligible to apply prior to their first semester at Stetson. Any student-athlete who will be receiving athletic aid is not eligible for this scholarship. Any athlete in an equivalency sport with a signed Grant in Aid is not eligible to receive this scholarship.

Student Life Scholarships

The Global Citizen Scholarship is an academically competitive scholarship for incoming international undergraduate students. This scholarship offers full tuition for four years to students who exhibit top academic potential and who display the characteristics of a global citizen. Interested students must have at least a 3.5 equivalent GPA and submit a 500-word or less essay to [email protected] – How will your education prepare you to be a global citizen?

Students eligible to apply must be from one of the following regions:

  • Americas – Andes, Southern Cone
  • Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia
  • Sub-Saharan Africa – East and Southern

The See Yourself at Stetson Scholarship is a nationally competitive scholarship created to recognize our most significant transfer students. This scholarship offers full tuition and fees, including all eligible federal state and institutional aid, for up to three years or until undergraduate graduation, whichever comes first. The See Yourself at Stetson Scholar will be selected from five finalists. The remaining four finalists will be awarded a $5,000 grant. Interested students must complete the transfer application and submit a 500-word or less essay to [email protected]How am I overcoming adversities?

Stetson University is fortunate to have many alumni, parents, and friends who have generously supported the university over the years to create endowments, scholarships, and annual awards to help with student support. To see if you qualify for donor-funded scholarships, please complete a Donor Scholarship Profile through Scholarship Manager.

For returning students: keep your Donor Scholarship Profile up to date in Scholarship Manager and include any new club, activity, or peer group you may have joined recently. This increases the chances the university can match you with a donor! The benefits of receiving donor scholarships are enormous!

  • Being matched to a donor allows you to have a connection with an important alumni or friend of the university. This could lead to networking opportunities and a chance to receive advice or mentorship from your donor throughout your academic career at Stetson University and beyond!

This makes your degree even more valuable!
  • By completing a Donor Scholarship Profile, you allow us to better align your selection with our donors' intentions. Please note: if you are matched with one of our donor-funded scholarships, you may see a portion of your financial aid renamed to a donor fund.
  • Receiving a donor-funded scholarship boosts your clout - not every Stetson student receives a named scholarship! You ;will join a select group of students, and it may offer you additional advantages such as invitations to special events and networking opportunities with donors right here on Stetson’s campus.

Along with roughly 500 private colleges and universities, Stetson University participates in the SAGE Tuition Rewards Program. Students earn points in high school that they can redeem for scholarship funds at Stetson. Students are eligible to receive a Stetson University scholarship or the SAGE Scholarship award, whichever is higher, for up to 4 years. Study Abroad Scholarships

The purpose of the scholarship is to enable undergraduate students in good academic standing to participate in Stetson University-approved international study abroad programs, which are a primary mechanism for transformative intercultural learning and promote global awareness and understanding.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide funding to students studying abroad in Spain or France to cover expenses associated with the study abroad program such as travel, room and board. Scholarship awards will be made to students majoring in Spanish or French, with preference to students with financial need.

The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students from Stetson University's School of Business Administration to study in central Europe (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, or Switzerland) or to assist academically qualified students from those European countries to attend Stetson University's School of Business Administration.

The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage deserving students majoring in the field of foreign languages to participate in the University's Year Abroad Program in their junior year.

Richard and Lilis George Endowment for International Learning. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide support for students, faculty, departments, and programs to assist with expenses associated with international study abroad and the internationalization of the University's programs and curriculums.

The purpose of the scholarship is to assist high-need students with at least a 2.75 grade point average, with preference given to students majoring in math or finance, or participating in Study Abroad. Scholarships are renewable as long as the recipients maintain a 2.75 grade point average.

The purpose of this endowment is to provide financial support to full-time students for international travel. An endowed scholarship fund provides financial support that will enable more and more students to access transformational international learning opportunities, particularly programs led by Stetson faculty.
