Transfer Student Admissions
At Stetson University, you are a name, not a seat number. Our 11:1 student to faculty ratio means smaller classes and professors who know your goals and your work, not a lecture hall where you are one of hundreds. As a transfer student, you can bring up to 64 credits with you and be considered for merit aid based on your GPA, application and completed credits. It is a private university education built around you, in DeLand, Florida, a short drive from Daytona Beach and Orlando.

Using our streamlined and shortened Stetson Application or the Common App below, you can submit the admissions application today to maximize your chances for any potential financial aid. Then, follow up with the required school transcripts and a writing sample at a later date.

For admissions purposes, we accept self-reported information. If you have earned fewer than 60 college credits, you will need to submit official high school transcripts showing your completion or graduation date, or proof that you have completed an AA degree, by the end of your first semester. If you do not provide official transcripts by this deadline, your financial aid will be suspended and you will be prohibited from registering for spring semester classes.
You can order official transcripts through Parchment, eScrip or SCOIR for electronic delivery to Stetson University. Our Office of Admissions mailing address and fax number are at the bottom of this page.
We recommend that you submit a writing sample. Your writing sample can respond to one of the essay topics below, or you can submit a previously graded paper or essay.

If admitted, a nonrefundable deposit of $500 is required to reserve a seat. Please note the seat deposit deadline and instructions for remitting payment on your letter of acceptance. This deposit will be credited to your tuition upon registration. Please make a check or money order payable to Stetson University. Credit cards are also accepted.

You are considered a transfer student if you have attended college or university classes after graduating from high school.
Stetson University accepts up to 64 credits for transfer.
Credits From Other Universities and Colleges
You can find out yourself at any point in the admissions process. Just upload your transcripts to our credit evaluation tool below and it shows you what transfers and how it applies to a degree at Stetson University. After you are accepted, the Office of the Registrar certifies your results and confirms which credits count toward your degree. Typically, you will receive credit for courses you completed with a C or better at other accredited institutions. CLEP credits are not accepted.

Yes. As a transfer student, you are considered for merit scholarships, and you can apply for federal aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the appropriate year.
You can apply for many of the same scholarships available to incoming freshmen. One example is the Phi Theta Kappa scholarship, awarded to members of the PTK Honor Society at community colleges. It is currently $2,000 per year and requires proof of your PTK membership.
Yes. Housing is available for transfer students. If you have completed 30 or more credits, you also have the option to live off campus.
Yes, as long as you apply by its deadline you will be considered.
