Federal Student Loan Changes
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) took effect July 1, 2026, and changed federal student loans. For new borrowers, Grad PLUS loans are no longer available and Parent PLUS loans now have annual and lifetime limits. Undergraduate loan limits did not change.

Your cost depends on your financial aid, not just the published price. Most Stetson University undergraduates receive scholarships and grants that lower what they pay, and the Net Price Calculator estimates your cost after that aid. Current tuition, fees, housing and food costs are listed on the Tuition and Costs page. Graduate tuition is charged per credit hour and varies by program, and Stetson University College of Law publishes its own tuition and costs.
You are considered a merit scholarship automatically when you apply for admission, with no separate scholarship application. Nearly 97% of incoming undergraduates receive one. Premier scholarships and programs require an additional application by December 1. International students are also eligible for merit scholarships.
Yes, if you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Stetson University uses the FAFSA to award federal, state and institutional aid, and its FAFSA school code is 001531. Graduate students must also file the FAFSA each year to qualify for federal loans. International students do not file the FAFSA.
Yes. Florida residents can apply Florida Bright Futures scholarships, the Florida Effective Access to Student Education (EASE) grant and Florida Prepaid plans toward their costs at Stetson University. These state awards are combined with your Stetson University merit scholarship and any other aid you receive.
Yes. Graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Business Administration can qualify for federal loans by filing the FAFSA, and some programs offer scholarships. For example, eligible full-time educators and counselors can receive a 40% tuition scholarship in counseling and education programs. Deadlines vary by program. Stetson University College of Law students apply for aid through the College of Law’s Office of Student Financial Planning.
