Special interest housing areas are designed to provide students with the opportunity to live in an environment with other students who share similar interests, concerns, and goals. The speciality areas promote the learning which comes from living and studying with men and women of diverse backgrounds and from learning to honor beliefs and interests that may differ from their own. It is expected that each group will develop programs and activities that challenge and encourage diversity of thought within the group and assist group members in reaching personal and group goals.

Here at Stetson we have a few types of special interest housing which accommodate freshmen through senior students in different experiences.

Honors - located in one area of Stetson Hall houses 28 residents who have been accepted into Stetson University Honors Program. Students in the Honors area strive to promote and develop the desire for intellectual challenge and the opportunity to apply academic interests to life outside the classroom.

Community Service - located in the Service Station, houses 10 residents who are committed to Service Learning.

"It will be a guided passage that takes college students coming in that first year and transforms them into self-reliant and valued members of the university community."
-Dr. Leonard Nance, Dean of First Year Studies.
