Endowed Scholarship

Establish a legacy of lasting impact by creating an Endowed Scholarship fund. It is an excellent way to show your support for Stetson students and the university in perpetuity.

Donors are invited to make a minimum gift amount of $25,000, which can be paid over a period of one to five years. To add specific criteria for awarding beyond a college/school, the minimum to endow is $50,000.

An endowed scholarship may be established with a single outright gift, pledged over a period of up to five years, and/or through a donor’s estate.

As with any endowed fund, the principal of the fund is kept intact; awards come from the earnings of the investment so that the scholarships are funded in perpetuity. Once the scholarship is established,  donors are encouraged to make additional gifts to grow the endowment.

Endowment Amount Projected Scholarship Award*
$500,000 $22,500
$100,000 $4,500
$50,000 $2,250
$25,000 $1,125

*Awards based on a 4.5% spending distribution

As the endowed fund balance grows, the amount of the endowed scholarship award also increases. Each year, the Board of Trustees sets the spending policy for endowments. Any earnings in excess of the spending policy are reinvested inthe fund for future growth. Endowment spending distributions are based on a rolling 12-quarter average value of the funds. With this conservative spending policy, along with solid growth in investment earnings, we expect to see a continued favorable return on the endowment in future years.

Chloe DeYoung

“I never could have imagined the impact that receiving a donor-funded scholarship would have on me and my time at Stetson University. When I received the call that I was a JOE scholar (J. Ollie Edmunds scholarship recipient), I couldn’t believe I was being given this opportunity. I find it hard to wrap my head around the profound impact and the degree to which it has changed my life. I plan on continuing to work hard in medical school and beyond to make good on the investment that was made in me and my future.”
