Our athletic programs generate national attention, increased enrollment and alumni engagement while contributing to greater student spirit, satisfaction and retention. Investments in our programs and facilities will support renovation of the Edmunds Center on the DeLand campus as well as other physical improvements and athletic needs.
Renovation of the Edmunds Center
The Edmunds Center was built in 1974 and named after Dr. J. Ollie Edmunds, a Stetson graduate as well as former trustee, president and chancellor. It is a multipurpose space used for university and athletic events as well as numerous summer camps annually. It is also the home court of Stetson men’s and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball.
Serving an estimated 60,000 guests each year, the Edmunds Center is one of the constants throughout our students’ experience at Stetson—from their earliest visits as high school students at Hatter Saturday, to regular events like Convocation, the Homecoming Pep Rally, and volleyball and basketball contests, to the final chapter as those students become Stetson graduates at Commencement.
To continue to serve its many audiences, Stetson requires a contemporary, attractive and functional space—a space that delivers a high-quality, comfortable experience for students, fans and members of the community and one that matches the caliber of Stetson’s athletic programs. A renovated Edmunds Center will serve Stetson well for many years to come.
The $5 million Edmunds Center project would include lobby renovation, scoreboards and video boards, basketball locker room upgrades, Hall of Fame room upgrade, the addition of a second practice court, reserved seating upgrades, an elevator and additional meeting space.
