Residential Life Mission Statement
To create a residential environment that supports active learning through personal growth in a diverse community. We encourage students to develop a value system which supports academic scholarship, leadership, community engagement, and a healthy quality of life.
General Functions The Head Resident (HR) an upper-class student serving as a peer advisor and educator responsible for a floor of residents and assisting them address their needs within a residence hall and the university community. Reporting to a Residential Life Coordinator (RLC), the HR has responsibilities in student development, programming, general administration, and maintenance and facility administration. The Head Resident has an integral role in the development of the residential community and helps strengthen students’ communication and confrontation skills with the assistance of the Resident Assistants (RAs). The Head Resident is a principle student leadership position within the Department of Residential Life & Fraternity & Sorority Affairs; therefore the HR will work to create a safe, secure environment that fosters the educational mission of the University and personal development of students through daily interactions.
