If the constant change of today’s economy gets your adrenaline pumping, then finance may be the right major for you. Finance courses prepare students for a wide variety of careers in the field, including portfolio management, financial analysis, and financial services like brokerage and banking. We also prepare students for further graduate training such as master’s and doctoral programs, as well as professional designations such as the Series 7 and 63 licenses and Chartered Financial Analyst (C.F.A.) and Certified Financial Planner (C.F.P.) designations.

The Finance major prepares students for careers in a wide range of settings, including those in the financial services sector such as banking, brokerage, insurance, and financial analysis. It is also excellent training for commerce, government, and education administrations as well as further professional training like law school.

Course Information
In addition to the standard business core, Finance majors take specialized courses such as Business Finance, Investments, and Financial Management I and II. The major also requires three elective courses from a selection of Personal Finance, Multinational Finance, Financial Risk Management (Futures and Options Contracts), International Investments, Equity Analysis and Portfolio Management, and Fixed Income Portfolio Management.

As part of Business School curriculum, the requirements for Finance Major or Finance Minor, as well as the List of Courses taught by Finance Department could be found through Stetson University Bulletin.

George students are multi-time champions at a national student-managed portfolio competition at the University of Dayton, excelling in each portfolio category. This is one of the oldest and arguably the best student-managed programs in the United States. Graduates have gone on to success as financial analysts and money managers, as well as further graduate training.
