We encourage you to watch the videos below in order before your selection appointment.

After watching the videos, please review the Important Information & Frequently Asked Questions sections below. These section provide answers to common scenarios, including roommate groups, eligibility questions, and what to do if you miss your selection appointment.

Important Information

Stetson University is proud of both its residential campus and its tradition of a vibrant campus community. The on-campus experience provides residential students with a number of benefits not available to commuter students, including support from residential staff that live and work in our buildings alongside our residents, access to university resources and academic buildings just a short walk from their home on campus, and opportunities to build relationships within the large campus community. In addition, national research shows that students living on campus have higher grade point averages, higher graduation rates, and greater involvement in university and student organizations. Therefore, Stetson has a three-year residency requirement in which all students are required to live on campus for the first three years of their enrollment at the university.

Exceptions to the residency requirement may be granted to those students who satisfy one or more of the following criteria on or before August 1st AND submit the Request for Residency Exemption found on MyHousing.

Students interested in living off-campus while attending Stetson can learn more about the Request for Residency Exemption.

After completing a housing application, students who are seeking additional consideration in the housing assignment process or reasonable requests for modifications to their housing assignment must request for accommodations at the university through the Accessibility Services Center (ASC). The ASC reviews and approves requests for academic, dietary and campus housing accommodations. Approved accommodations will be communicated to Residential Living & Learning by the ASC and our office will provide the student with housing on campus that meets the approved housing accommodation(s).

    • Requests for Housing Accommodations approved by the Priority Deadline of March 1 for Current Students | April 1 for New Students will be provided with a housing assignment by Residential Living and Learning that meets their specified needs prior to the Housing Selection taking place in April. These students will not participate in Housing Selection.
    • Requests for Housing Accommodation approved after the Priority Deadline of March 1 for Current Students | April 1 for New Students will be reviewed following Housing Selection. Students eligible to participate in Housing Selection may attempt to select a space in residential housing that meets their accommodation needs. If they are unable to do so, an appropriate housing assignment will be provided after Housing Selection on a rolling basis throughout the months of May, June and July.

Stetson University provides a unique experience allowing students to live with their animals on campus. There are four different categories of Animals approved by Residential Living and Learning; Pets, Emotional Support Animals, Service Animals and Service Dogs-In-Training. All animals living on campus must be approved through a request process. Students wishing to bring an animal to campus must submit the Request for Animal-in-Residence found on their MyHousing Home Page.

Emotional Support and Service Animals may live in any residential building, however, we do encourage students eligible to participate in Housing Selection to choose an assignment in an Animal-Friendly Housing Location, if not already placed by RL&L in an assignment prior to Housing Selection in accordance with your ESA application. Remember, all ESAs and Service Animals must be approved through Accessibility Services Center as an approved Housing Accommodation.

Pets and Service Dogs-in-Training will only be approved to live in Animal-Friendly Housing. Therefore, new students eligible to participate in Housing Selection should make every effort to select a room in one of our three Animal-Friendly Housing locations during Housing Selection, if not already placed by RL&L in an assignment prior to Housing Selection in accordance with your animal in the residence application. If Animal-Friendly Housing is not available during the Selection process, the student should select an available space outside of Animal-Friendly Housing. The student's Request for Animal-in-Residence will remain in submitted status and, should space in Animal-Friendly Housing become available at a later date, the student will be offered a reassignment.

Learn more about Animal-Friendly Housing locations, university and Residential Living and Learning animal policies, and the Request for Animal-in-Residence.

Assignments will be provided prior to the Housing Selection process. Applications for Residential Learning Programs can be found on students' Forms page of their MyHousing account.

Greek housing on campus is managed by Fraternity & Sorority Life. Students involved in a Fraternity or Sorority will be added to their house roster by their organization president.  Members who would like to live in their sorority/fraternity house should reach out to their president to ask about available space!  Students placed on the roster to live in the house will not participate in Housing Selection and instead be assigned to their chapter house by Fraternity & Sorority Life.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Several updates have been made to housing selection for the 2026–2027 academic year:

    • Residence halls are no longer designated by class level.
      • Why: Removing first-year and upper-class hall designations increases flexibility, expands housing style options, and provides access to a wider range of price points for current students.
        • Current students can now select spaces in our most affordable traditional community style housing!.
        • First-time-in-college students can now select spaces in Emily Hall, increasing their options for suite-style housing!
    • Lynn Hall is available in housing selection for the first time.
      • Why: Lynn Hall, our newest residential building opened for Spring 2026, will be available in selection! This new building increases options for traditional community style housing, suite style housing, and individual bedrooms!
    • Chaudoin Hall is now open to both male and female students.
      • Why: This adjustment expands equitable housing opportunities and allows more students access to this residential community.
    • Current student housing selection will take place in two phases, with a 60+ Credit Apartment Selection occurring before General Current Student Selection.
      • Why: This structure ensures that students with 60 or more earned credit hours have equitable access to University Village Apartments and individual bedroom apartments in Stetson Cove, which are our highest-demand apartment communities. While still allowing all eligible students the opportunity to select from remaining available spaces in tractional community, suite and apartment style housing during general selection.
    • A Second Chance Selection opportunity will be offered in June.
      • Why: This new selection process allows students who were unable to select during the initial housing selection, as well as students who wish to change their current assignment, an additional opportunity to self-select from available spaces. Second Chance Selection helps reduce manual assignments and provides added flexibility for students. Students should review the Second Chance Housing Selection FAQs below for details on eligibility and participation requirements.
    • Academic program-based housing will be offered for select first-year programs.
      • Why: Housing students in the same academic program together during their first year supports community-building, access to program resources, and a smoother transition to campus life. Students in the following programs are assigned to designated residential communities for their first year and do not participate in general housing selection:

Law Ready Program — Lynn Hall
STEM Scholars Program — Chaudoin Hall
      Bonner Program — Conrad Hall
      Honors Program — Chaudoin Hall

These updates were developed based on student feedback, including consultation with the Student Government Association and review of housing survey data. The changes are designed to increase fairness in the selection process, align housing selection processes with housing policies, expand housing style options, and improve access to more affordable spaces.
