Department News
- The Rinker Institute received word that its AACSB accounting accreditation has been reaffirmed. This follows a self-study year in 2009-2010 and a visit by the accreditation team in January, 2011.
- Dr. Monica Jeancola received her PhD in Education from the University of Florida in December, 2010. She has been promoted to Assistant Professor of Accounting.
- Dr. Maria Rickling joins the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Accounting in Fall, 2011. She earned her Ph.D. in accounting from Florida International University.
- Dr. Mike Bitter was named the Rinker Distinguished Professor in May, 2011. He assumes the position of chair of the M.E. Rinker, Sr. Institute of Tax and Accountancy in Fall, 2011. He replaced Dr. Jud Stryker, who stepped down as chair and associate dean to return to the classroom.
- Mr. Harry Taft, a long-time faculty member in accounting, retired in December, 2010.
- Dr. Vince Brenner and Dr. Richard Copeland gave been granted sabbatical leave for the Fall, 2011 semester.
- Dr. Paul Dascher, former dean of the School of Business Administration and accounting faculty member retired in May, 2011. He was awarded emeritus status by the University.
- Dr. Jim Beasley joins the Institute as the University Professor of Business Administration in Fall, 2011. He will teach BN 209, our course on the legal and ethical environment of business.
- Dr. Mike Bitter received the School of Business Administration’s service award for 2010-2011.
