The Rinker Institute had its AACSB accounting accreditation reaffirmed in 2011. This follows a self-study year in 2009-2010 and a visit by the accreditation team in January, 2011.

Dr. Monica Jeancola received her PhD in Education from the University of Florida in December, 2010. She was promoted to Assistant Professor of Accounting.

Dr. Maria Rickling joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Accounting in Fall, 2011. She earned her Ph.D. in accounting from Florida International University.

Dr. Mike Bitter was named the Rinker Distinguished Professor in May, 2011. He assumes the position of chair of the M.E. Rinker, Sr. Institute of Tax and Accountancy in Fall, 2011. He replaced Dr. Jud Stryker, who stepped down as chair and associate dean to return to the classroom.

Mr. Harry Taft, a long-time faculty member in accounting, retired in December, 2010.

Dr. Paul Dascher, former dean of the School of Business Administration and accounting faculty member retired in May, 2011. He was awarded emeritus status by the University.

Dr. Jim Beasley joins the Institute as the University Professor of Business Administration in Fall, 2011. He teaches BN 209, our course on the legal and ethical environment of business.

Dr. Mike Bitter received the School of Business Administration's service award for 2010-2011.

Dr. Greg McCann received the School of Business Administration's innovation award for 2011-2012.

Kaylyn Varnum, a graduating accounting major, carried the gonfalonier for the School of Business Administration at the May, 2012 graduation. This is the second highest honor for a School of Business graduate.

Fifty students received their Master of Accountancy at the May, 2012 graduation ceremony. Fifteen of those students had earned Beta Gamma Sigma honors.

Sixteen accounting majors received their Bachelor of Business Administration at the May, 2012 graduation ceremony. Five of those students had earned Beta Gamma Sigma honors.

Shin Liu received the Federation of Schools of Accountancy's Master of Accountancy Student of the Year award for Stetson.
