  • Per the N.A.S.B.A. 2012 Uniform CPA Examination Candidate Performance book, the achievement of our students/recent graduates on the CPA examination is as follows:
    • The overall pass rate for all Stetson University-educated test takers was 75 percent (the world-wide average was 48.9 percent). This was the second highest pass rate in the state of Florida (out of 26 universities).
    • The overall pass rate for Stetson University-educated test takers with a bachelor's degree was 84.6 percent (the highest pass rate in the State of Florida).
    • The overall pass rate for Stetson University-educated first time test takers with a bachelor's degree was 75.1 percent (the highest pass rate in the State of Florida).
  • Ms. Bonnie Holloway joins the faculty as a visiting lecturer in accounting in fall 2013. Bonnie earned her M.B.A. from Stetson University and has previously served as an adjunct instructor at Stetson University. She recently retired from Lake-Sumter State College, where she was an accounting professor and department chair for 29 years.
  • Vince Brenner, Ph.D., David M. Beights Professor of Accounting, received the School of Business Administration's Researcher of the Year Award for 2012-2013.
  • The Rinker Institute had its AACSB accounting accreditation reaffirmed in 2011. This follows a self-study year in 2009-2010 and a visit by the accreditation team in January, 2011.
  • Dr. Monica Jeancola received her PhD in Education from the University of Florida in December, 2010. She was promoted to Assistant Professor of Accounting.
  • Dr. Maria Rickling joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Accounting in Fall, 2011. She earned her Ph.D. in accounting from Florida International University.
  • Dr. Mike Bitter was named the Rinker Distinguished Professor in May, 2011. He assumes the position of chair of the M.E. Rinker, Sr. Institute of Tax and Accountancy in Fall, 2011. He replaced Jud Stryker, who stepped down as chair and associate dean to return to the classroom.
  • Thirty-two students received their Master of Accountancy at the May 2013 graduation ceremony.
  • Twelve accounting majors received their Bachelor of Business Administration at the May 2013 graduation ceremony.
  • Marketa Nickle received the Federation of Schools of Accountancy's Master of Accountancy Student of the Year award for Stetson University.
