AmeriCorps VISTA

The mission of AmeriCorps is to improve lives, strengthen communities and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering.

There are over 7,000 AmeriCorps members in the VISTA program who serve annually to alleviate poverty by helping local organizations expand capacity to make change.

The Center for Community Engagement has four AmeriCorps VISTAs as part of our team. Our AmeriCorps VISTA members support the Center for Community Engagement to make sustainable change in areas that effect poverty, including education, public health, climate and access to benefits through activities such as fundraising, grant writing, research and volunteer recruitment.

Our 2023/2024 AmeriCorps VISTA Cohort work in the following areas:

  • Interfaith Engagement Coordinator
  • College Access & Success Coordinator
  • Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation Coordinator
  • Bonner Program Coordinator

The Community Resource Directory started as a collection of local resources to make it easier for our CCE team to refer those seeking services. It quickly developed into something much larger. After a year long process, over 200 local resources were complied. What began as an internal resource is now available to anyone to access through our partnership with Support Volusia. Support Volusia now hosts the Volusia Resource Directory, as well as maintaining and updating the database.

You can find the Volusia Resource Directory here.
