Investment Center

At Stetson University’s Investment Center, students from all majors connect classroom learning with practical experience in investment research, financial markets, portfolio management, and entrepreneurial finance. In a student-managed, faculty-guided environment, they develop analytical skills, professional confidence and meaningful connections.

Building on the Roland George Investments Program, the Investment Center is designed to connect rigorous finance education with real-world opportunities across investments, financial planning, entrepreneurial finance and analytics. Students learn alongside peers, receive faculty guidance, and explore professional pathways through coursework and applied experiences.

First Year: Explore Your Interests

The Investment Center is open to students from all majors. Finance FSEM introduces first-year students to finance, while Career Prep Evening Labs offer an early opportunity to get involved. Personality mapping helps students identify their strengths and consider careers that fit their interests.

Sophomore Year: Build a Foundation

The Investment Center sophomore cohort brings together at least 50 students. Courses in Money & Financial Institutions and Investments provide a foundation for the work ahead.

Students prepare for internships through resume reviews, mock interviews, and Career Prep Evening Labs. They also meet alumni and industry professionals and receive training in Bloomberg and FactSet.

Program selection

At the end of sophomore year, students apply for placement in a specialized program. Selected students advance into a junior-year pathway. Those who are not selected leave the cohort with practical skills and professional connections.

Junior Year: Develop a Specialty

Students selected for placement continue in one of four pathways:

RGIP Public Markets
Research companies, analyze public-market investments, and support investment decisions.

Hatter Angel Program
Find potential investment opportunities and conduct due diligence.

Financial Advisory & Planning
Study financial planning and develop the skills needed to advise clients.

Quantitative Investments & Data Science
Apply data analysis and modeling to investment questions.

Senior Year: Lead the Next Group

Through the J-SEM Leadership Class, seniors take responsibility for teams and projects within the Investment Center. They mentor underclassmen and teach Career Prep Evening Labs, drawing on their own experience to help younger students prepare.

Throughout the Four Years

Alumni mentorship and office hours give students access to people working in the field. Fireside chats, firm visits, and speaker sessions introduce different careers in finance. Resume reviews and career fairs provide further support as students pursue internships and full-time positions.

Students also build relationships with classmates and alumni that can continue after graduation.

Annual Events and Firm Visits

Sophomores, juniors, and seniors can attend the Homecoming Weekend Alumni Reception in October and the Investment Center Symposium in April.

Selected students also participate in the annual Miami firm visit and recruitment trip. They meet with leading firms and explore internship and full-time opportunities.

After Graduation

Students leave with a stronger understanding of investments and experience applying what they have learned. They have practiced working on teams and taking responsibility for others, with a network of classmates, alumni, and industry contacts to draw on as they begin their careers.

Our Mission
