Move Out Procedures and Info

Anytime you move-out:

We love having you here, but when you do leave, there are a few things to keep in mind regardless of when the move happens:

  • Let us know when you are leaving
  • Remove all of your belongings and trash
  • Clean your space
  • Return your room to its original configuration
  • Return your keys

End of Term Move-out

Students will receive information regarding exact move-out procedures from their Residence Life Coordinator when the time comes. The Guide to Residential Living has more information about the check-out process. Here are some of the general expectations:

  • Attend closing community meeting
  • Coordinate cleaning of common spaces with roommate(s)
  • Schedule a check-out appointment with their RA
  • Utilize the large roll-off dumpsters for disposal of all trash
  • Utilize donation bins for all appropriate items
  • Walk-through the space with their RA
  • Complete the Room Inventory Form
  • Keys should be returned to the RA at this time

Mid-semester Move-out

If a student is moving out of their room during the semester, they should make sure that Residential Living and Learning staff are aware of the move that is occurring. Refunds and fees for cancellations and withdrawals are outlined in the housing agreement. If a student is leaving during the business day when an RA is not available, keys should be returned to the Residential Living and Learning office when they have moved out and are ready to leave.

  • Coordinate cleaning of common spaces with roommate(s)
  • Schedule a check-out appointment with their RA
  • Utilize the green dumpster trailers for disposal of all trash
  • Walk-through the space with their RA or the RA on Duty
  • Complete the Room Inventory Form
  • Keys should be returned to the RA at this time
