Annual Student Meeting
Yearly in August
August 14, 2021 - Tentative
Each year our department holds an annual student meeting. Everyone is strongly encouraged to attend as this is an opportunity for us to gather as a department to celebrate accomplishments, share important upcoming information and participate in required student workshops. Please refer to our Annual Student Meeting Page for more details.
Advancement to Candidacy
Yearly in February
Upon a student's completion of 18 hours of coursework, students become eligible to Advance to Candidacy. Faculty make advancement decisions based on the rubric criteria. Upon advancement, the Department notifies students by letter when they advance to candidacy. Failure to meet the rubric criteria at a score of three (3) or higher results in remediation of the student or dismissal from the program.
Practicum Orientation
This orientation session will help students learn what to expect during their internship and provide tools and tips to maximize their experience. All students are required to attend at least one orientation.

CPCE Semester Testing Schedule
Registration is required five weeks in advance. Email Counselor Education to request instructions to register.

NCC/NCHMCE Semester Testing Schedule
- Registration is required six months in advance.
- You must have a master's degree in mental health counseling or a degree related to mental health counseling practice from a regionally accredited institution to be eligible to take the NCC/NCHMCE test.
- Off-campus testing site.
- Registering within your final semester will be at a discounted price of $335.00.
- Your application will remain active for two years from the time of payment.

- Registering after graduation will be at the cost of $375.00.
- Your application will remain active for two years from the time of payment.
- The state of Florida will not accept your scores toward licensure unless the test was taken after your official conferral date.
MHC exam applicants are not required to have Board approval prior to taking the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination. After passing the NCMHCE, your transcript and scores will be forwarded to the FL Board.
Fall Group Retreat
This is a one-day group retreat that is part of the COUN 504 Group Counseling Course.
Fall 2021: October 23, 2021, tentative
Location: Canterbury Retreat & Conference Center Oviedo, FL
Conferences
Students are required to attend two conferences to meet graduation requirements.
