Graduate Counseling Admission Requirements

Submit the graduate application for admission to Stetson University. One application covers both graduate counseling programs, and you select your program within the form.

A $50 nonrefundable application fee is due when you submit your application. Pay online through the Hatter Portal.

You must hold a bachelor's or master's degree from an institutionally accredited college or university. Submit official transcripts from every college and university you have attended.

Order transcripts through Parchment or eScrip for electronic delivery to Stetson University, or mail them to the Office of Graduate Admissions, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., Unit 8289, DeLand, FL 32723.

Provide the name and contact information for three professional references in your application. Supervisors, managers and colleagues who can speak to your work are all appropriate. They will be sent a form to fill out and submit that gets uploaded into your application. If you graduated recently and do not have professional references, academic references are acceptable.

Submit a resume covering your professional and educational history.

Submit a personal statement of 500 to 800 words explaining what your career goals are, why you're pursuing the program and why you want to attend Stetson University.

Both counseling programs require you to attend an Interview Day event, where your admission interview takes place. The Spring semester Interview Day event is September 25, 2026. Fall semester dates have not been announced. Before you attend, you must watch a 50-minute video introducing the counseling programs at Stetson University. The CACREP accreditation standards require this video, so you cannot complete the interview until you have watched it. The Office of Graduate Admissions will send you the video link and more information about the event after you submit your application for admission.

You have additional requirements, including credential evaluation and English proficiency testing, if you will need a student visa or if you attended a college or university outside the United States. Applications for admission are due 30 days before the deadlines listed above.

International Student Requirements

No. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) are not required for admission to the counseling programs at Stetson University.

Yes, Stetson University accepts financial aid for graduate students who qualify. As a student of Stetson University's College of Arts and Sciences, you can receive a 40% tuition scholarship if you are a enrolled in a graduate counseling program.
