English Department Award for Writing

C. Carter Colwell Award for Best Researched Essay

This award is given to the best-researched essay written for an English course. To be eligible for this award, a student needs senior standing, and the essay must have been written for an English course during the past four terms (Spring 2023, Summer 2023, Fall 2023 or Spring 2024).

Submission Guidelines

To submit an essay for consideration, please create a Submittable account. After you create an account, you can submit your essay.  Please fill out the form and attach the required documents.  Provide the work to be judged with one cover sheet that includes your Stetson University ID number and the award title for which your entry should be considered. Your name and ID number should not appear on any other pages of your submission. Students' work is judged anonymously. The submission deadline is Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.

Academy of American Poets Student Poetry Prize

This award includes a cash award and a one-year membership to the Academy of American Poets.  To submit for this prize, please create a Submittable account. After you create the account, you can submit your poems.  Please fill out the form and attach three poems.
