This page displays the titles and descriptions for each environmental club on the Stetson campus, as well as contact information and social media links. The list of clubs includes the Stetson Environmental Club, Hatter Harvest, SOAR, Friends of the Everglades, and Audubon.
Our organization is a leading force in hands-on environmental management and conservation. We strive to not only speak of change but to become the change so that we can walk into a sustainable future. Our goal is to engage the hands and minds of the Stetson community by tackling environmental and sustainability issues on and off campus. Join us in our mission and with your help we will continue to broaden our influence and protect our environment!
Hatter Harvest is a student-led garden that helps students gain skills and experience with gardening. We grow both food and ornamental plants that all members of the club can share. We have been a club for over 11 years and helped to establish the first iterations of the Artisan Alley Farmers market. We work closely with the Gillespie Museum to cultivate native plants and support the museum seed library. Join us today to learn more about caring for your own plants in a community of like-minded students!
We meet Fridays at 4:30 at the Rinker Environmental Learning Center. We hope to see you there!
We are the Outdoor and Adventure program on campus. SOAR runs trips at very low cost for students to go kayaking, hiking, backpacking and other activities. Our goal it to provide fun, challenging and safe spaces for Stetson students to try new things and explore the outdoors.
Friends of the Everglades is a non-profit environmental advocacy group established by Marjorie Stoneman Douglas, the author of a famous book titled "River of Grass," and this student chapter works in partnership with this organization. The goal of the Friends of the Everglades Student Chapter is to help Stetson University students develop a passion for the unique Florida ecosystem. In addition, our club aims to facilitate learning about the Everglades by organizing experiential learning trips, paid internships, and events. Living in the state with one of the largest wetlands in the world, we believe it is our duty to help inspire future generations to protect and appreciate the diversity and beauty the Everglades has to offer.
Audubon on Campus at Stetson University is a campus chapter of the National Audubon Society, and is affiliated with the West Volusia Audubon Society. Our mission is biodiversity conservation and education, with a special focus on birds and the habitats that support them. We welcome all interest and experience levels to join us on bird walks, native plantings, and other events!
