Institute for Water and Environmental Resilience
The Stetson Institute for Water and Environmental Resilience is a first of its kind at Stetson. Its purpose is to help Stetson University become a center for innovative approaches to tackling complex challenges.
The Institute will focus on water and environmental research in order to offer policy options to protect natural resources in Central Florida and beyond. The Institute will also channel student and faculty research across all university colleges - in partnership with other institutions and community stakeholders.
Students with interests in the environment and sustainable solutions have opportunities to work with faculty and community leaders from government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and businesses in the region to conduct research, develop policy, or participate in public education efforts that identify environmental problems and help implement solutions.
Through the Stetson Institute for Water and Environmental Resilience, Stetson University - along with its faculty, students, and alumni - will emerge as a leader in Central Florida and the Southeast United States region for education, research, and policy development that will generate innovative technical, social, and political solutions for the current and future challenges of strained water resources and related environmental concerns.
Stetson's Institute for Water and Environmental Resilience promotes interdisciplinary learning and research, advances policy development, develops leadership for solving challenging environmental issues, and demonstrates environmental stewardship as a core university value.
