Members of the Community
Participation in the Choral Union is open to any community member at or above the age of 14. All community participants must register online by Monday, August 17, 2026 (registration link coming soon). Should you not be able to register prior to this date, please contact the director for assistance.
No audition is required, but community members must register and sign a participation waiver form (link below). Also, as a courtesy, we request that you email the Choral Union conductor, Ryan Person, before joining. This will give him an opportunity to answer any questions you may have and ensure that we are prepared for rehearsal with scores and seating.
The requirements for maintaining membership in the Choral Union include interest and experience in singing, attendance at rehearsals and performances in concerts, purchase of required printed music, payment of dues and procuring the necessary attire for performance. Singers may join the Choral Union at the beginning of each semester (fall, spring), but not mid-semester because of missed rehearsals.
Dues for community members are $25 per semester. Current and emeriti Stetson faculty and staff are exempt from paying dues.
Stetson University Students
Current Stetson students interested in singing in the Choral Union (MUSE 305 - Choral Union) for course credit. Attendance and punctuality, music purchase, concert attire, and preparation are carried out by the student for a grade. The grade will be assigned at the conclusion of each semester, and university credit will be awarded to both music majors and non-music majors. This credit will constitute Stetson University's "A" designation (creative arts in the general education designation) for non-music majors. For music majors, the Choral Union constitutes ensemble credit toward degree requirements and scholarship requirements. Refer to the syllabus for all course requirements and grading policies. Students registered for MUSE 305 will not be required to pay ensemble dues.
Scores for All Musicians
Every singer must have original, published copies for all rehearsals and performances. Stetson will purchase the scores and distribute them at the first rehearsal.
All singers must purchase the score and then keep them after the performance. The cost will be $20. Payments are to be made online; community members pay as a part of the registration form process.
Registered students may pay for scores online.
Score Markings and Rehearsal Recordings
Score markings will be given to you at rehearsal. Links to reference recordings will be sent via email.
