Community Engagement Training Programs

The Center for Community Engagement offers premier training programs designed to facilitate student learning through community impact. Any student, faculty/staff member, or community partner may request either an informational presentation of community engagement resources on campus or a training on how to apply community-engaged practices to their work.

Request a Training

In an attempt to secure a preferred training date, please submit all requests at least five (5) full business days in advance. For optimal scheduling, requests should be submitted at least 10 business days prior to the desired training date.

CCE staff will review all submissions and confirm the date (or suggest a new one if there’s a scheduling conflict). The submitter will receive a confirmation email at the address provided in the submission.

Discover how community-based research can strengthen partnerships between community-based organizations and the university. This workshop introduces the principles of community-based research, explores strategies for collaborating with faculty, students, and community partners, and demonstrates how these partnerships can build organizational capacity, generate actionable knowledge, and create meaningful community impact.

This workshop engages participants in thinking more critically about nonprofit and governmental approaches and interventions to complex social problems. Participants will learn how to use root cause analysis as a practical tool for understanding and examining these problems. Through guided discussion of selected articles, participants will explore examples of solutions that address the root causes of social issues rather than their symptoms (i.e., “Band-Aid Solutions”).

University students, faculty, and staff interact with youth in many ways (e.g., coaching, counseling, mentoring, volunteering, etc.). Whatever your role, this workshop will help you work effectively with youth. It offers good practices, describes the signs of child abuse and neglect, and explains your legal duty to make a report.

Following the Bonner Curriculum, CCE staff are available to facilitate several trainings, presentations, and workshops related to leadership development, organizational capacity-building, and finding service opportunities upon request.
