Decorated cap with the words

Academic Regalia

All participating students are required to wear their cap and gown during their assigned Commencement ceremony. Regalia must be worn as intended with gowns fully zipped throughout the procession, ceremony and recession. In addition to regalia, comfortable attire and sensible shoes are recommended.

Students are welcome to decorate their caps to celebrate their achievements and highlight their individuality. Decorated caps must align with the Student Conduct and Community Standards and should reflect the professionalism and significance of the occasion. Any caps deemed to be inappropriate will not be permitted to be worn.

Regalia can be ordered via the Herff Jones Website. The deadline to order regalia is Friday, March 22, 2024.

If you have any questions regarding regalia, please contact the Stetson University Bookstore at 386-822-7160.

Academic Accessories

Students will receive organization accessories directly from the group's faculty sponsor. Additional groups outside of the official honor societies will need to submit a formal request to the Office of the Provost for approval at [email protected]. Requests should include a description of the academic honorary society, including membership requirements and an image of the requested accessory. All requests are due by April 1, 2024, and will be reviewed after that date, with final decisions communicated to the requester. Current policy states that requests for academic accessories (cords, pins and medallions) will be considered from academic honor societies only. Requests from non-academic groups for an academic accessory will not be approved.

Requests for Academic Accessories will only be accepted through April 1, 2024.

Non-Academic Accessories

Students are permitted to wear additional non-academic accessories (pins and stoles) that are officially sanctioned by the university. Students will receive these accessories directly from the appropriate sponsor of the association, organization, club or group. Societies, clubs and groups seeking approval for a non-academic accessory will need to submit a formal request to the Vice President for Campus Life and Student Success. Final approval will be made jointly by the senior officers for CLaSS and Academic Affairs. Requests should include a description of the association, organization, club or group, including any membership requirements, a statement expressing how membership or participation in the group matches the official mission and/or stated values of Stetson University, and an image of the requested accessory. All requests are due by April 1, 2024, and will be reviewed after that date, with final decisions communicated to the requester. Requests from organizations, clubs and groups whose primary purpose is social, or whose work is not connected with the mission and/or values of the university, will not be approved.

Requests for Non-Academic Accessories will only be accepted through April 1, 2024.
