Educational Leadership
Now is your opportunity to pursue a career in educational administration within P-12 education. Expand your expertise in leadership, curriculum development, legal and financial aspects of school management, and effective engagement with linguistically, culturally, and racially diverse student populations through our master's degree program in educational leadership at Stetson University.
Why Educational Leadership at Stetson University?
Stetson University's Educational Leadership program equips you for roles such as dean, assistant principal, principal, program director, instructional coach and state-level positions. The program focuses on applying theory to practice, ensuring you are prepared to pass the Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE).
Stetson offers two tracks: the Master of Education (MEd) in Educational Leadership and the Modified Educational Leadership program. The Modified program requires a previous master's degree.
Our programs are based on cohort learning, which encourages meaningful relationships with principals, administrators and peers in each cohort. You will develop the knowledge, skills and professional and ethical dispositions to be reflective practitioners, collaborative instructional leaders, facilitative change agents and responders to diversity.

Career Outcomes
As a student in Stetson University's Educational Leadership graduate program, you can significantly elevate your career potential. Holding a master's degree and Principalship Certification typically results in higher salaries compared to those holding only a bachelor's degree. Graduates from this program often step into roles such as assistant principals, associate superintendents, superintendents, deans, district-level administrators, state and federal leadership officials, academic coaches, and assessment and testing coordinators.
During your time in the program, you will complete 180 hours of an Educational Leadership internship experience spread over three semesters at your school site. This internship is a critical component of your training, providing hands-on experience under the supervision of school-based principals and the guidance of experienced administrators and Stetson faculty. Designed specifically for advanced graduate students, this practical experience bridges the gap between academic theories and real-world leadership, preparing you for state-regulated professional licensure or certification. Through this internship and accompanying seminars, you'll gain a deep understanding of the Florida Principal Standards and the competencies required for the Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE), equipping you for impactful roles in educational leadership.
Stetson University students and graduates highly regard our esteemed faculty in the Department of Education. They are eager to engage with prospective students. You can request an appointment with a graduate faculty member through our Office of Graduate Admissions.
