2026 Stetson in New York
The Stetson University School of Music is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Stetson in New York Chamber Music and Solo Auditions. Selected participants will perform in The Dr. M. Jean Greenlaw Stetson University Concert at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on Friday, March 6, 2026. Student chamber ensembles and soloists have the opportunity to audition for placement in the concert. Auditions will take place on September 28, 2025, at Stetson University and will be judged by a panel of outside judges.

Audition Guidelines/Requirements

Eligibility: The solo portion of the “Stetson Carnegie Hall Chamber Music and Solo Auditions” is open to all music majors enrolled in both private lessons and large ensembles at Stetson University. Permission from each applicant’s studio teacher will be required upon registration. Music education students in their senior year are not eligible to participate.

Previous participants: Past participants of the solo division are ineligible to audition in the solo portion again.

Availability: Applicants must be available on September 28 and March 5-7 to participate.

Repertoire Selection: Repertoire includes unaccompanied works as well as works with piano accompaniment. Concerti movements will not be accepted. If a piece outside of a concerto includes an orchestral reduction, approval in writing from both the audition coordinator and the applicant's studio teacher is required. Students selected to perform at Carnegie Hall must present the same repertoire performed during the audition process; changes to repertoire after selection are not permitted.

Duration: The duration of the selection should not exceed 12 minutes.

Scores: Students must provide three copies of the full score for the judges at the time of the audition.

Memorization: Left to the discretion of each instructor. Please consult your teacher for specific requirements regarding memorization for your audition.

Selection process: Three external judges will be invited to adjudicate all student auditions. After evaluating the performances, the judges will submit their recommendations to the Dean of the School of Music. The final determination of the concert program will be made by the Dean, with the goal of presenting a program that reflects the diverse range of instrumentalists and vocalists within the school.
