Scholars Day

Stetson University recognizes the importance of academic and community support in preparing our students for future success. Scholars Day is an invite-only event for our top scholars and their families to learn more about the opportunities available at Stetson.

During this event, participants will engage with Stetson faculty, academic leadership, alumni and current students. The event will feature information sessions, hands-on activities, and a community fair featuring campus departments and student organizations. Guests will be able to get questions answered about what makes Stetson unique and how our students are set up for success both academically and professionally.

2022 Keynote Speaker

Dan Humphrey '16

Dan originally hails from Cincinnati, Ohio where his desire to be a top-notch litigator blossomed from a young age. In high school, he was a four-year captain of his school’s award-winning mock trial team. Continuing that success, he was recruited for mock trial at Stetson University. He served as the captain of Stetson’s mock trial team, winning national awards at competitions around the country. Dan graduated from Stetson magna cum laude with degrees in political science and economics.

Dan continued to Fordham Law School, maintaining his involvement in winning trial advocacy programs and graduating with honors. In addition to trial advocacy, Dan was involved in the Fordham Urban Law Journal and served as a research assistant at the Center on National Security. His work at the Center on National Security connected him with experts worldwide, including members of the Council on Foreign Relations, a former director of the CIA, and many former members of the FBI. While in law school, Dan was also a summer associate at J.P. Morgan Chase in the firm’s global headquarters in Manhattan, New York.

After leaving Fordham, Dan began a clerkship with U.S. Magistrate Judge Lauren F. Louis in Miami, Florida. While clerking for Judge Louis, he observed and assisted with two jury trials and assisted in drafting countless orders. Following clerking for Judge Louis, Dan began clerking for Justice John D. Couriel of the Florida Supreme Court. In his time clerking for Justice Couriel, Dan learned about the intricacies of Florida law, a knowledge that is useful in serving his clients.

Currently, Dan is a litigator at the prominent Miami law firm Brodsky Fotiu-Wojtowicz. Dan practices complex commercial litigation and catastrophic personal injury. He advises his clients through all phases of litigation, from pre-suit to trial through appeals.

Dan applies the knowledge and skills he developed at Stetson daily and credits his success primarily to his alma mater.
