Frequently Asked Questions
On what campuses is the MBA offered?
Stetson University has two campuses: DeLand and Gulfport, and two satellite centers: Celebration and the Tampa Law Center. M.B.A. courses are offered at DeLand, Celebration and Gulfport. M.B.A. courses offered at Gulfport are only offered to students enrolled in the J.D./M.B.A. program.
When and where are the classes held?
In DeLand, advanced level courses are offered Monday through Thursday evenings. The School of Business Administration is based at the DeLand campus in the Eugene M. and Christine Lynn Business Center. All DeLand M.B.A. courses are located in this building.
In Celebration, advanced level courses are offered Monday, Tuesday and occasionally Wednesday evenings.
In Gulfport, advanced level courses are offered on Monday and Tuesday evenings beginning at 6 p.m.
All Campuses: Fall and spring semesters are 12 weeks long with an optional thirteenth week for a final exam. Courses meet once per week from 6 to 9 p.m. Summer semesters are eight weeks long with an optional ninth week for a final exam; therefore, the classes are longer and meet from 6 to 9:45 p.m.
How long does it take to complete the MBA program?
The M.B.A. program offered in DeLand is flexible. Some full-time students complete the program in as little as one year. The average student on the professional track (requiring little to no foundation coursework) completes the M.B.A. program in 18 months. The M.B.A. student (requiring little to no foundation coursework) solely attending classes in Celebration usually finishes the program in 18 months. Regardless of the program and location you choose, all graduate business degrees must be completed within eight years of your first graduate class. While diplomas are issued three times per year, a commencement ceremony is only held in May.
Can I start the program in any semester?
Yes. The Office of Graduate Business Programs has a rolling admission policy. You may begin coursework in the fall, spring or summer semester. When you are ready to apply to a program, contact us if you are unsure about which upcoming semester you are eligible to start.
What are the admission requirements?
Admission requirements vary depending on which program you wish to pursue. Please see the admissions page for more information. Please note that international students have additional application requirements; these requirements are outlined on the admissions page. We encourage all interested applicants to apply.
When are the application deadlines?
We accept admission applications on a rolling basis. For any given semester, we will accept applications up to 45 days prior to the start of that semester. However, we recommend applying early. If you would like to begin graduate studies in the summer or fall, you should apply at the start of the spring semester prior to the time you wish to begin your studies; those desiring spring entrance should apply in the beginning of the fall semester.
Why does Stetson University require a GMAT score? What is the minimum score?
We require the GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test) as one criterion in our application evaluation process. In addition to being a proven indicator of academic success, requiring a GMAT score is important to maintain our prestigious AACSB International Accreditation - the highest accreditation for which a business school can strive. Stetson University is pleased to have accreditation in both our business and accounting programs. Applicants should have a satisfactory score on the GMAT for consideration into Stetson University's graduate business programs; particular programs and/or applicants may require higher scores. Applications must be completed in full before an admission decision can be made. We cannot tell you exactly what role your GMAT score will have in the decision process until we are able to look at all required application components.
Must I have an undergraduate degree in business?
No! We have designed the M.B.A. program to accommodate those students without an undergraduate degree in business. In most instances, an M.B.A. nicely compliments an undergraduate degree in a different field of study. We simply require that an undergraduate degree is complete from an accredited university and that official transcripts documenting all undergraduate study are sent as part of the application process. Students without a business degree will most likely require foundation coursework.
Are there any special requirements for international students?
Yes, we do require additional materials from international students. Please visit the international admissions page to read a special note to international students. Among other things, we require evaluated transcripts and a TOEFL score of at least 79-80 IBT.
After I apply, how long will it take before an admission decision is made?
After all the application requirements are met, you will be notified of our decision right away.
Where should I send my application?
Please send your application materials to:Office of Graduate Admissions
421 N. Woodland Blvd. Unit 8289
DeLand, FL 32723

We require an official transcript with the graduate-level courses shown as well as course descriptions. We may also require a syllabus in some cases. Potential transfer courses must have been completed with a grade of B or better.
