Fitness Assessments

Our fitness coaches can provide you with general or comprehensive fitness assessments:

General Fitness Assessments

This assessment takes approximately ten minutes. No appointment is necessary. It will measure:

  • Blood pressure
  • Body fat percent analysis
  • Girth (hips, waist, abdomen, arm, thigh, calf)

Comprehensive Fitness Assessments

This assessment takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and must be scheduled at least one hour in advance at the Hollis Center front desk. Also, a completion of a PAR-Q questionnaire is required before any testing can be performed. The comprehensive fitness assessment will measure or assess:

  • Blood pressure
  • Body fat percent analysis
  • Girth (hips, waist, abdomen, arm, thigh, calf)
  • Cardiorespiratory endurance (YMCA three-minute step test)
  • Muscular endurance (push-up and curl-up test)
  • Flexibility (the "sit and reach" test)
  • Resting heart rate

Also, our fitness coaches will give you useful information about target heart rate training zones.

Equipment Orientations

If you'd like to learn how to safely use various pieces of fitness equipment, just ask for one of our trained fitness coaches at the Hollis Center front desk. They'll demonstrate how to use weight machines, free weights, cardio equipment and other fitness tools. They'll also help you learn how to use a workout log to track exercise progress, which makes for more effective workout sessions. No appointment is necessary!
