Our History

What Governs Us

The Student Government Association (SGA) at Stetson University operates under a set of governing documents that outline its structure, responsibilities, and procedures. These documents include the Constitution, Bylaws, and various policies that guide the SGA's operations and decision-making processes. The Constitution serves as the foundational document, establishing the SGA's mission, values, and organizational framework. The Bylaws provide detailed guidelines on the roles and duties of SGA members, meeting protocols, and election procedures. Together, these governing documents ensure transparency, accountability, and effective governance within the SGA, empowering student leaders to advocate for their peers and contribute to the university community.

Our Branches

The Student Government Association (SGA) at Stetson University is organized into two distinct branches: the Executive Branch and the Legislative Branch. The Executive Branch is led by the SGA President and Vice President, who oversee the implementation of policies and initiatives, and represent the student body in various capacities. The Legislative Branch, composed of the Senate, is responsible for creating and passing legislation that addresses student needs and concerns. Senators work closely with their peers to ensure that the student voice is heard and considered in university decisions. Together, these branches work collaboratively to advocate for student interests, promote transparency, and enhance the overall student experience at Stetson.
