Megan O’Neill

Quality Enhancement Plan Director

Stetson’s Quality Enhancement Plan(QEP) Director is Megan O’Neill, PhD, who holds a tenured line in the Department of English. Megan has been at Stetson University since 1999, starting as Director of the Writing Program. Since then, she has worked to develop a campus that prides itself on student writing, starting with the First-Year Seminar and implementing a Writing Across the Curriculum program in 2016. As a long-time member of the university’s assessment program, Megan has served on the university General Education Committee for over 10 years. She is an advocate for using writing to lift other critical skills at the university and she has partnered with the duPont-Ball Library staff and faculty in connecting writing and information literacy for seven years. The appointment as QEP Director is an exciting opportunity to help Stetson University bring renewed focus to the core critical literacies that are key to a liberal arts education.

Stuart Michelson

Stuart Michelson

Dr. Stuart E. Michelson had been at Stetson University as the Roland and Sarah George Professor of Finance since 2001. He published over 100 refereed academic journal research articles and served as an editor of two academic journals. In addition to his research, Stuart received nearly a dozen faculty awards in recognition of his significant contributions to research, teaching and service. Stuart was also deeply involved in equity, diversity and inclusion work, often sponsoring marches with students for equality, most recently the Black Lives Matter March in 2020.

Stuart passed away unexpectedly in the spring of 2021, but we retain his name on the QEP Staff list to honor his commitment to the principles of the QEP, which developed with his essential guidance and input. To further honor Stuart's contribution to the QEP and to Stetson University at large, the Stuart Michelson QEP Award was established to recognize the work of QEP-engaged faculty whose work in information literacy in their courses took on a DEI focus.
