Biography

Zenta E. Gomez Auyong is currently working on putting together a book and various articles from her dissertation research, "The Comparative Utility of Mainstream Criminological Theories in Explaining Offender Life Histories." Auyong's previous research has been published in the peer-reviewed journals Criminology, Marriage and Family Review and Journal of Criminal Justice. She has also contributed to the Encyclopedia of Criminology, The Blackwell Encyclopedia of Sociology and the Encyclopedia of Police Science. Before coming to Stetson University as a visiting professor, Auyong worked for a nonprofit organization focused on providing healthcare to the homeless population in Gainesville, Florida as their program development and volunteer coordinator. She also taught various courses at the University of Florida and at Santa Fe Community College. Auyong also has experience teaching Advanced Principles of Criminal Justice, Life-Course Criminology, Introduction to Sociology and Crime and the Life-Course.
