Biography

Griffis began his career with the University of Florida Extension in June 1978 in Volusia County as a courtesy Extension agent, Natural Resources & Soils. He also served as interim county Extension director and was promoted to county Extension director. While with Extension, Griffis has taught/offered educational programs in natural resources and environmental education, soil suitability, and has worked on community development for both youth and adults. He obtained Emeritus status with the University of Florida in 2016.

Publications

Griffis has published over 700 news articles in the Daytona Beach News Journal, DeLand Sun News, The Beacon, Hometown News, Farm Bureau News and several magazines and numerous professional journals. He also developed hundreds of multi-media presentations and exhibits in support of educational programs. Griffis has done hundreds of radio and television shows for the Daytona Beach - Orlando market.
