Carly Wingfield

Visiting Assistant Professor of Music

My philosophy as a voice teacher prioritizes freedom and joy in singing by fostering a welcoming, supportive environment where students feel empowered to explore, take risks, and grow. Because the voice is deeply connected to the soul, I consider it a true honor to guide individuals in expressing themselves more fully as they unlock new dimensions of their voice, build confidence, and develop lasting vocal coordination and artistry.

Biography

Carly Wingfield is a dynamic soprano, researcher, and educator whose artistic breadth spans early music, contemporary works, opera, and choral repertoire. Equally accomplished in early and modern repertoire, she has performed works by Isabella Leonarda and J.S. Bach, as well as Juliana Hall, Louis Andriessen, Steve Reich, Frederic Rzewski, and others. Her versatility makes her an asset to professional choral ensembles, as well, having performed with the Spoleto Festival USA Chorus and served as the soprano section leader of the World Youth Choir.

As a researcher, Wingfield was awarded the Kate Neal Kinley Fellowship for her research on virtual reality for performance preparation, which she has presented nationally and internationally at conferences including The Voice Foundation and Forum Acusticum EuroNoise in Málaga, Spain.

As an educator, Wingfield previously taught Applied Voice, Class Voice, and Diction for Singers as an adjunct instructor at Missouri State University, Evangel University (2019-2022), College of the Ozarks (2020-2022) and as a Teaching Assistant at Missouri State (2017-2019) and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2022-2025). Now at Stetson, she blends her diverse musical interests, international experiences, and a strong scientific foundation in vocal pedagogy to help students realize their full potential as both expressive singers and forward-thinking entrepreneurs.
