Methodology

At the Center for Public Opinion Research, we are dedicated to conducting high-quality, rigorous research. Our methodologies, anchored in the principles of scientific inquiry and transparency, are designed to capture reliable and valid data about public opinion on an array of social, political, and economic issues.

Research Design

Each of our studies begins with a thoughtful research design process. We carefully define our research questions, determine appropriate populations for study, and construct comprehensive sampling plans. Our researchers utilize various study designs, including cross-sectional, longitudinal, and experimental designs, depending on the research question at hand.

Data Collection

We employ multiple data collection techniques to ensure a broad and representative capture of public opinion. These techniques include online surveys, telephone interviews, and in-person interviews, which are conducted in accordance with the ethical guidelines set forth by the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) and the Association for Survey Computing and Social Research Organizations (ASSRO).

Sampling

Our samples are meticulously selected to be representative of the population of interest. We use probability sampling methods, including the use of the Florida Voter File for telephone surveys and random selection for online and in-person surveys, ensuring every member of the population has an equal chance of participation.

Questionnaire Design

Our questionnaires are carefully crafted to avoid bias and ensure clarity and comprehension. Questions are developed and tested through pilot studies before being included in our surveys. We employ a mix of open-ended and closed-ended questions to capture a wide range of responses.

Data Analysis

Once data is collected, our team employs rigorous statistical techniques to analyze the responses. These techniques range from descriptive statistics to more complex inferential statistics, based on the research question and the nature of the data.

Interpretation and Reporting

We strive to present our findings in a way that is clear, concise, and actionable. We interpret our data with caution, ensuring we do not overstate or misrepresent our findings. Our reports detail our methodologies and our results, maintaining a commitment to transparency and openness.

Review and Quality Control

To ensure the highest standards of research, our processes include multiple stages of review and quality control. From the initial research design to the final report, each step is scrutinized and validated by multiple team members.
