Stetson Outdoor Adventure Recreation (SOAR)

Stetson Outdoor Adventure Recreation offers a variety of programs, events and trips throughout the year designed to provide students with safe and meaningful outdoor opportunities that will enhance their college experience. Below are the adventure trips for the upcoming semester. 

In order to sign up for the trips, please email wellnessandrec@stetson.edu and include the trip title in the subject line of your email. Spots will be secured once payment has been made.

Fall 2018 Adventure Trips

Hang in the Quad

Aug. 29 | Palm Court 

Description: Join SOAR as we hammock in the quad at Palm Court from 11am-3pm.  Enjoy the start of the semester and learn what SOAR Trips will be offered!

SOAR Difficulty Rating: Easy

Cost: $0 per person

Blue Springs Meetup

Sept. 15 | Blue Springs, FL

Description: Spend the day on the crystal clear water enjoying the sun and beautiful scenery of Blue Springs State Park.

SOAR Difficulty Rating: Easy

Cost: $10

Included in Cost: Kayak rentals, snacks, staff guides.

Indoor Rock Climbing

Sept. 22, Oct. 20, Nov. 17 | Longwood, FL

Description: Spend the day getting a unique physical workout by indoor rock climbing. Rock climbing tests a person's strength as well as their problem-solving skills as they follow specific routes set by the center. Come join SOAR for a day of fun climbing and testing your limits.

SOAR Difficulty Rating: Moderate

Cost: $10 per person

Included in Cost: Equipment rental at Aiguille Rock Climb Center.

SOAR Fall Break

Oct. 3 - 7 | Chattooga, SC

Description: Join SOAR as we venture up to the Chattahoochee National Forrest in northern Georgia and South Carolina for an adventure of a lifetime. Activities include white water rafting, lake kayaking, and hiking.  The Blue Ridge Mountains are an adventurers dream featuring many scenic views and opportunities to experience nature at it's finest.  Previous rafting, kayaking, and hiking experience not required.

SOAR Difficulty Rating: Strenuous 

Cost: $150 per person

Included in Cost: Transportation, lodging, meals, equipment, staff guides.

Hike & Hammock

Nov. 10 | Ocala National Forest

Description: Explore the Ocala National Forest with SOAR and enjoy a relaxing time hanging over a shared meal with friends.

SOAR Difficulty Rating: Easy

Cost: $10per person

Included in Cost: hammocks, snack, staff guide.

Adventure Education

Adventure education is experiential learning that engages the learner physically, emotionally and mentally. It encourages exploration, appropriate risk-taking and play. Unknown and unpredictable outcomes foster a sense of adventure, fun, laughter and learning! These events must be approved at least two weeks before the requested training date(s).
