Stetson Outdoor Adventure Recreation (SOAR)

Stetson Outdoor Adventure Recreation offers a variety of programs, events and trips throughout the year designed to provide students with safe and meaningful outdoor opportunities that will enhance their college experience. Below are the adventure trips for the upcoming semester. 

In order to sign up for the trips, please email wellnessandrec@stetson.edu and include the trip title in the subject line of your email. Spots will be secured once payment has been made.

Spring 2019 Adventure Trips

Indoor Rock Climbing

Feb. 23, Mar. 2, Apr. 20, Apr. 27 | Longwood, FL

Description: Spend the day getting a unique physical workout by indoor rock climbing. Rock climbing tests a person's strength as well as their problem-solving skills as they follow specific routes set by the center. Come join SOAR for a day of fun climbing and testing your limits.

SOAR Difficulty Rating: Moderate

Cost: $10 per person

Included in Cost: Equipment rental at Aiguille Rock Climb Center.

Kayaking

Feb. 16, Apr. 6

Description: Spend the day on the crystal clear water enjoying the sun and beautiful scenery of one of our local state parks.

SOAR Difficulty Rating: Easy

Cost: $15

Included in Cost: Kayak rentals, snacks, staff guides.

SOAR Spring Break

Mar 4 - 8 | Dunnellon, FL

Description: Join SOAR as we venture to Dunnellon, home of the beautiful Rainbow River.  Throughout the break, we will be kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, and hiking various outdoor parks in western Florida.  Destinations include Rainbow River, Crystal River, and more.  Transportation, lodging on the Rainbow River, meals, and equipment will be included in this trip.

SOAR Difficulty Rating: Moderate

Cost: $125 per person

Included in Cost: Transportation, lodging, meals, equipment, staff guides.

Trampoline Park

Mar. 16

Description: Get your bounce on with SOAR as we head to one of our local trampoline parks for a day of fun.

SOAR Difficulty Rating: Easy

Cost: $10per person

Day Hike

Mar. 23

Description: Join SOAR as we venture into the outdoors for a day hike at one of our local state parks.  Enjoy the sights, fresh air, and sense of adventure that can only be felt on the trails.  

SOAR Difficulty Rating: Easy

Cost: $10 per person

Adventure Education

Adventure education is experiential learning that engages the learner physically, emotionally and mentally. It encourages exploration, appropriate risk-taking and play. Unknown and unpredictable outcomes foster a sense of adventure, fun, laughter and learning! These events must be approved at least two weeks before the requested training date(s).
