Academic Advising

Academic Advising is a dynamic, collaborative relationship between the student advisee (that is, you) and the faculty advisor.

Stetson’s faculty advisors are central to the University’s mission of providing “excellent education in a creative community where learning and values meet, and [fostering] in students the qualities of mind and heart that will prepare them to reach their full potential.” At Stetson, every student partners with a personal faculty advisor in the student’s degree area. Your advisor guides and supports you throughout your academic journey, helping you make the most of your college experience.

To do so effectively, your advisor will endeavor to learn your interests and aspirations, strengths and weaknesses, and career plans. Armed with that knowledge, your advisor will assist you in clarifying your short- and long-term goals, provide guidance in selecting courses needed to achieve your desired academic and professional goals, help you navigate University policies and procedures, answer your questions, and inform you about opportunities and resources that exist on and off campus.

Over your years at Stetson, your advisor will become your mentor—someone you can always turn to for counsel. This personalized approach to advising empowers students to become responsible for their own education and to make viable academic decisions regarding their future.

In addition to your faculty advisor, Stetson University provides additional advising support to ensure your academic success.
