Stetson Outdoor Adventure Recreation (SOAR)

Stetson Outdoor Adventure Recreation (SOAR) offers a variety of programs, events and trips throughout the year designed to provide students with safe and meaningful outdoor opportunities that will enhance their college experience. Below are the adventure trips for the upcoming semester. 

In order to sign up for the trips, please email wellnessandrec@stetson.edu and include the trip title in the subject line of your email. Spots will be secured once payment has been made.

Fall 2018 Adventure Trips

Blue Springs Trip

September 9 | Blue Springs FL 

Description: Take a trip to Blue Springs FL right in our backyard. Participants will be able to swim in the springs, kayak, and explore the trails throughout Blue Springs State Park.

Cost: $15 per person

Bioluminescent Kayaking

September 22 | Titusville FL

Description: Join SOAR as we head to Titusville for a unique experience that can only be found on the Space Coast. In the warm waters of intercoastal waterways, you will experience a natural phenomenon where every paddle stroke, dipped hand, and swimming fish nearby create a glowing bright blue light throughout the waters.

Cost: $25 per person

Included in Cost: Transportation to Titusville, equipment rental, staff guides from A Day Away Kayak Tours.

Fall Break Trip

September 29 - October 3 | Blue Ridge, GA

Description: Spend your Fall Break with SOAR. We will be staying in a cabin in Blue Ridge, Georgia and partaking in a variety of adventures throughout the break. We will white water raft the Ocoee River, hike Cloudland Canyon State Park and throughout the Smokey Mountains. You won't want to miss out on all the fun!

Cost: $125 per person

Included in Cost: Transportation to Blue Ridge, all adventure activities, meals, equipment and gear, and staff guides.

Indoor Rock Climbing

October 21| Altamonte FL

Description: Spend the day getting a unique physical workout by indoor rock climbing. Rock climbing tests a person's strength as well as their problem-solving skills as they follow specific routes set by the center. Come join SOAR for a day of fun climbing and testing your limits.

Cost: $10 per person

Included in Cost: Transportation to Altamonte, equipment rental at Aiguille Rock Climb Center.

Paddleboard

November 18 | Dunnellon FL

Description: Paddleboard with SOAR down the beautiful Rainbow River. With crystal clear water and an abundance of wildlife, you will not be disappointed with this trip. Snorkel gear will also be provided for participants to receive an up close and personal view of the sights.

Cost: $20 per person

Included in Cost: Transportation, equipment, snacks.

Zip Line

December 2 | TBD

Description: We are still fine tuning details about this trip. Expect to zip through the trees and feel the wind on your face during this action packed adventure trip.

Hang in the Quad

December 7 | Palm Court

Description: Head over to Palm Court where SOAR will have snacks and Eno hammocks. Stop in for a quick hang or spend some time relaxing as part of Stress Less week heading into Finals.

Cost: $0 per person

Included in Cost: Hammock rental, snacks.

Adventure Education

Adventure education is experiential learning that engages the learner physically, emotionally and mentally. It encourages exploration, appropriate risk-taking and play. Unknown and unpredictable outcomes foster a sense of adventure, fun, laughter and learning! These events must be approved at least two weeks before the requested training date(s).
