Life is a journey, and our voice is a vital component of who we are and how we present ourselves to the world. Whether it is singing or speaking, our voice is often a reflection of our confidence, our charisma, and our capability. “Find your voice, let it sing” is a phrase I have used to encourage students to approach voice with curiosity and freedom, for each of us truly does have a unique gift to explore and share with the world. Together with a strong liberal arts education, Stetson students are prepared for whatever lies ahead, no matter where the road of life leads them.

Biography
Eva Lukkonen, MM MA CCC-SLP came to her current role as a voice teacher and speech-language pathologist specializing in voice from the background of a singer and performer in opera and musical theatre. She graduated from the University of Southern California as well as California State University Long Beach with advanced degrees in opera/voice and speech pathology. She performed roles with the Aspen Opera Theatre including Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro under Maestro Harry Bicket, and sang with numerous opera companies and symphonies in California, including Opera Pacific, Long Beach Opera, Townsend Opera Players, and the Bakersfield Symphony. Her experiences and training led her to work with vocal pedagogue Joel Ewing out of Los Angeles, who inspired her to turn her attention toward not only training the singing voice but helping singers and professional voice users who have injured or lost their voices get their voice back. She was selected for the prestigious Clinical Fellowship at the Emory Voice Center in Atlanta, and it was there that she continued to gain invaluable experience in voice and its care.
Since then, Eva has continued to work with national recording artists and Grammy award winning singers, professional voice users from all walks of life, and anyone experiencing difficulties with their voice. As a performer, she was last seen as Mrs. Massey in Atlanta Opera’s production of The Shining in 2023. She made her Atlanta Opera debut 2022 in the role of Kate (Edith cover) in their production of Pirates of Penzance, and stepped into the role of Texas in Cabaret later that year. In Georgia, she has performed leading roles with Capitol City Opera (Zita in Gianni Schicchi/Buoso’s Ghost) and Atlanta Concert Opera (Béatrice in Béatrice et Bénédict and Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro). As an SLP, she worked with many of the laryngologists and otolaryngologists in the greater Atlanta area. She also created the voice education and performance community group, ATLVocalite, which had its inaugural voice lecture and performance series in 2019. She was an invited speaker at the Georgia Speech-Language Hearing Association’s annual conference in 2019, and she continues to provide vocal health talks to community singing groups and choral educator organizations. Her approach to teaching singing is to develop a solid technical base which can then be applied to all genres of singing, from classical to metal. After relocating to Florida in 2025, she is excited to join the voice faculty team at Stetson University in fall 2026.
