AFROTC Scholarships

Stetson University has partnered with the U.S. Air Force to provide additional funding for eligible students selected for AFROTC scholarships.

High School Scholarship Program (HSSP)

Air Force ROTC offers three-year and four-year scholarship programs through the High School Scholarship Program.

All HSSP award recipients receive a financial aid package equivalent to a full ride at Stetson University.

  • Four-Year Type 1: If you are awarded an AFROTC HSSP Type 1 scholarship, Stetson University‘s scholarship award will supplement all federal and state funding to total your tuition and 100% of your room and board for all four years.
  • Three-Year Type 1: If you are on a Three-Year HSSP Type 1 scholarship, Stetson University‘s pre-contract scholarship award will supplement all federal and state funding to total your tuition, including 100% of your first year, and room and board, but will include $5,500 in loans or other sources. The three remaining years of room and board, while on scholarship, will be fully funded without loans.
  • Four-Year Type 2: If you are awarded an AFROTC HSSP Type 2 scholarship, Stetson University‘s scholarship award will supplement all federal and state funding to total your tuition and 100% of your room and board, but will include $5,500 in loans or other sources each year.
  • Three-Year Type 2: If you are on a Three-Year HSSP Type 2 scholarship, Stetson University‘s pre-contract scholarship award will supplement all federal and state funding to total your tuition, including 100% of your first year, and room and board, but will include $5,500 in loans or other sources each year.

In-College Scholarship Program (ICSP)

Thousands of AFROTC scholarships are available to students who are already on campuses across the country to support individuals who missed the opportunity to apply during high school. These scholarships through the In-College Scholarship Program are awarded strictly based on merit.

  • ICSP Air Force Scholarship: If you enter Stetson University without an HSSP offer, you may be evaluated for an ICSP Air Force scholarship in the spring semester of your freshman year or fall semester of your sophomore year.
  • Express: An additional scholarship opportunity may be available from the Air Force called “Express” scholarship. This scholarship opportunity is available when the Air Force has a need and offers eligible cadets a scholarship for agreeing to a career field that is in need.

In either case, the student will be awarded a merit scholarship based on high school performance until the Air Force scholarship is offered. When an Air Force ICSP is offered, Stetson will meet the scholarship terms of the corresponding HSSP, stated above.

Through ICSP, a Stetson AFROTC Cadet majoring in an approved foreign language (based on guidance each time the scholarship is announced) can apply and be awarded the AFROTC Language Scholarship. Standard approved languages include Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Persian, Russian and Turkish.

Application and Deadlines

The high school scholarship application opens on July 6 of the year prior to your graduating year.
