AFROTC Scholarships

Stetson University has partnered with the U.S. Air Force to provide additional funding for eligible students selected for AFROTC scholarships.

AFROTC Scholarship Application Process

High School Scholarship Program (HSSP)

All HSSP award recipients receive a financial aid package equivalent to a full ride at Stetson University.

  • Four-Year Type 1: If you are awarded an AFROTC HSSP Type 1 scholarship, Stetson University's scholarship award will supplement all federal and state funding to total your tuition and 100% of basic room and board for all four years.

Application and Deadlines:  To apply for the AFROTC high school scholarship, please visit afrotc.com to complete the application. The high school scholarship application opens on July 1 of the year prior to your graduating year.

In-College Scholarship Program (ICSP)

Thousands of AFROTC scholarships are available to students who are already on campuses across the country to support individuals who missed the opportunity to apply during high school. These scholarships through the In-College Scholarship Program are awarded strictly based on merit.

There are multiple ways to earn this highly competitive In-College Scholarship. You will automatically be competed for one after completing one full semester as an active cadet, have a qualified DoDMERB physical exam, as well as meet all Air Force ROTC requirements established each year. All scholarships include a tax-free monthly stipend and a $900 per year book allowance.

  • The Type 1 Scholarship – If awarded, Stetson University's scholarship award will supplement all federal and state funding to total your tuition and 100% of basic room and board for all subsequent years.
  • Type 2 Scholarship – If awarded, AFROTC will cover $18,000 per year in tuition. Stetson University will supplement the remainder of your tuition and fees minus $5,500 per year and will also include 100% of basic room and board for all subsequent years.

Through ICSP, a Stetson AFROTC Cadet majoring in an approved foreign language (based on guidance each time the scholarship is announced) can apply and be awarded the AFROTC Language Scholarship. Standard approved languages include Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Persian, Russian and Turkish.

  • If not awarded an In-College Scholarship, all cadets who graduate from Field Training, have a 2.5 GPA, meet height and weight standards, and have a passing PT score will automatically receive this Type 2 scholarship for their Junior and Senior years in the AFROTC program.
    • This scholarship is equal to a Type 2 In-College Scholarship
