The Building Maintenance Department is committed to ensuring the functionality, safety and aesthetic appeal of all buildings on campus.  Our services include: 

Routine Maintenance:  Regular inspections and preventative maintenance tasks to identify and address potential issues, ensuring the optimal functioning of building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire safety.

Repair Services:  Prompt response to repair requests and emergencies to resolve issues such as leaky faucets, malfunctioning HVAC units, broken doors/windows, electrical faults, and other structural or mechanical problems.  

Building Upkeep:  Ongoing care an upkeep of building interiors and exteriors, including painting, patching, caulking, and general repairs to maintain a clean and attractive and well-maintained appearance.

Accessibility:  Improving campus accessibility to installing and maintaining ramps, elevators, handrails and other features to facilitate ease of access for all people.

Emergency Preparedness:  Participation in emergency preparedness planning and response efforts, including coordination with other departments to ensure the safety and well-being of the University community during any crisis. 

In the Custodial Department, we pride ourselves on providing comprehensive cleaning services to maintain a hygienic environment across the University campus.  Our dedicated team works tirelessly to ensure all academic, administrative, ancillary and residential living spaces are clean and orderly.  Our services include:

1. Cleaning and sanitization of classrooms, laboratories, offices and common areas.  
2. Collection and removal of waste on campus.
3. Specialized cleaning for events, conferences and campus activities.
4. Floor care, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and carpet cleaning.
5. Restroom cleaning and sanitation to uphold health and hygiene standards.
6. Emergency response and cleanup services for spills, accidents and other incidents.
7. Collaborative effort with other departments to support campus initiatives and events.  

In Event Setups, we aim to ensure seamless execution and success for various events held across the university campus.  Our dedicated team provides comprehensive assistance with event logistics, setup and coordination to meet the unique needs of each occasion.  Listed below are services we offer:

Venue Setup:  Collaborating with event organizers to prepare event venues, including classrooms, auditoriums, outdoor spaces and specialized event facilities, according to specific requirements and configurations.

Furniture Arrangement:  Arrange tables, chairs, podiums, stages and other furniture items to optimize space utilization, seating capacity and audience visibiilty while accommodating the event's layout and purpose. 

Decor and Signage:  Assist with the placement of decorative elements, banners, signage and branding materials to create a visually appealing and cohesive atmosphere that aligns with the event's theme, message and branding guidelines.  

Accessibility Accommodations:  Ensure that event setups are accessible to individuals with disabilities by arranging for wheelchair ramps, accessible seating, signage and other accommodations in compliance with accessibility standards and regulations.  

Post-Event Cleanup:  Assist with post-event cleanup and restoration of event venues to their original condition, including furniture removal, trash disposal and general tidying up to facilities a smooth transition for the next event or regular use of the space.

In the Grounds Maintenance Department, we are committed to cultivating and preserving the natural beauty and functionality of the university's outdoor spaces.  Our comprehensive services encompass a wide range of activities to ensure that campus grounds remain safe, aesthetically pleasing, and sustainable.  Here's an overview of the services we provide:

Landscaping:  Designing, planting and maintaining gardens, beds, shrubbery, trees and other green spaces to enhance the visual appeal of the campus and create inviting outdoor environments.  We adhere to the principles of Florida Friendly Landscaping.

Lawn Care:  Mowing, edging, fertilizing, aerating and watering turf areas to promote healthy growth and maintain neat and well-manicured lawns throughout the campus.

Irrigation Management:  Monitoring and maintaining irrigation systems to ensure efficient water usage and optimal hydration for plants while conserving resources and minimizing water waste.

Seasonal Maintenance:  Implementing seasonal maintenance tasks such as leaf removal, mulching, pruning and winterization to prepare the grounds for changing weather conditions and maintain year-round attractiveness.

Pest and Weed Control:  Implementing integrated pest management strategies and weed control measures to protect plants and turf from pests, diseases and invasive species while minimizing the use of chemicals.

Hardscape Maintenance:  Cleaning, repairing and maintaining sidewalks, pathways, parking lots and other hardscape features to promote safety, accessibility and functionality across the campus.

Trash and Litter Removal:  Regular collection and disposal of litter, debris and waste to maintain cleanliness and tidiness throughout outdoor areas, including trash receptacle maintenance.

Environmental Stewardship:  Implementing sustainable landscaping practices, such as native plantings, composting and stormwater management to promote biodiversity, conserve resources and reduce the University's environmental footprint.

Stetson University is committed to promoting sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint through a variety of initiatives and programs aimed at environmental stewardship.  Some of the key efforts include:

Green Building Practices:  The University incorporates sustainable design principles into new construction and renovation projects, such as green materials, natural lighting and renewable energy systems.

Waste Reduction and Recycling:  Stetson encourages waste reduction and recycling through the campus-wide recycling program as well as educational campaigns to promote responsible waste management practices among students, faculty and staff.  

Water Conservation:  Stetson implements water-saving measures, such as low-flow fixtures, irrigation system upgrades and landscaping practices that prioritize drougt-resistant native plants, to reduce water consumption and preserve natural resources. 

Student Engagement:   Stetson offers many opportunities for student's to get involved.  Whether working in our work study program, or through academic programs, research opportunities, student-led clubs and organizations and campus events focused on environmental awareness and activism, all are encouraged to participate.
