Florida Bar Exam Subjects

Multistate Bar Examination

The following topics are tested on the Multistate Bar Examination: Constitutional Law, Contracts, Criminal Law and Procedure, Evidence, Real Property, and Torts. There are 34 questions each in Contracts and Torts and 33 questions each in Constitutional Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, Evidence, and Real Property.

Each course tested on the MBE has a corresponding course in Stetson's curriculum. We also urge students to take courses in their third year that will reinforce these topics. Such courses include, but are not limited to, Advanced Torts, Constitutional Law II, Insurance (contracts-related), Sales and Leases, Criminal Procedure (federal), and Remedies.

Florida Law Examination

The Florida portion of the examination consists of three essays and 100 multiple-choice questions on Florida law.

The following topics are tested on the Florida law portion of the examination: Florida Constitutional Law, Florida Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedure, Florida Rules of Judicial Administration (Rules 2.051, 2.060, and 2.160), Federal Constitutional Law, Chapters 4 & 5 of the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar, Business Entities including Corporations & Partnerships, Wills & Administration of Estates, Contracts, Criminal Law & Procedure, Evidence, Family Law, Real Property, Torts, and Trusts.

In addition to completing courses in the required curriculum, we urge students to consider taking several elective courses from the following list to prepare for this portion of the examination:

  • Florida Civil Procedure
  • Florida Constitutional Law
  • Florida Criminal Procedure

Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination

For the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination, students should complete Stetson's required Professional Responsibility course.
