Faculty Positions

Full-Time Faculty Appointments: All applicants must have a strong academic and employment record, often including, but not limited to, membership on a law review in law school, a judicial clerkship after law school, and employment in a sophisticated law practice in the government or private sector. Successful candidates will demonstrate leadership and a sincere interest in scholarship, as well as a commitment to outstanding teaching and university service.

To apply, send a cover letter indicating your teaching and scholarly interests and current curriculum vitae to the Faculty Appointments Committee, Stetson University College of Law, 1401 61st Street South, Gulfport, FL 33707. Please apply only if a current opening is posted.

Full-time and visiting candidates for faculty vacancies are also recruited through the American Association of Law Schools recruitment process. Candidates are encouraged to apply for faculty positions at Stetson through the AALS process. For more information, see https://www.aals.org/recruitment/.

Curriculum vitae are used for initial screening, but this application must be completed by those invited to on-campus interviews or selected as finalists for any faculty position.

Adjunct Faculty Appointments: Adjunct faculty positions remain on continuous recruitment due to changes in our curricular needs. Individuals interested in adjunct opportunities are encouraged to send a cover letter indicating your expertise and proposed area(s) of teaching and a resume to the Associate Dean of Academics, Stetson University College of Law, 1401 61st Street South, Gulfport, FL 33707.

Please know that decisions on the hiring of adjunct faculty are typically made six to nine months before the start of the semester in which the individual would be assigned to teach. In addition, most adjunct faculty members teach in our skills curriculum (e.g., Trial Advocacy and Pre-Trial Practice). We generally do not create new courses for an adjunct faculty member and adjunct faculty members do not teach in any required courses (First-year curriculum, Evidence, Professional Responsibility, and Agency). To review current course offerings, see Course Descriptions.

Application materials should be sent via email to [email protected].

Stetson University, an Equal Opportunity Employer, affirms the values and goals of diversity. We strongly encourage the applications of all candidates, including women and candidates from historically under-represented groups.

Curriculum vitae are used for initial screening, but this application must be completed by those contacted by the Associate Dean of Academics for a possible appointment.
