Advisor of the Year

Who can nominate

- Nominations for this category can be submitted by faculty, staff, or students.

Description

- Awarded to one advisor of a student organization who demonstrates outstanding commitment and dedication to the advising and advancement of their student group. This advisor has excelled at supporting the mission of the student group they advise and is continuously engaged in the organization’s activities and development.

Criteria

- Must be a full-time faculty or staff person

- All organizations who nominate their advisor must be in good standing with the Office of Student Governance and Organizations as well as the Office of Community Standards.

- Supports the mission of their student group and is continuously engaged in its activities and development

CLaSS Graduate Assistant/Intern of the Year

Who can nominate

- Nominations for this category can be submitted by full-time staff of Campus Life and Student Success (CLaSS)

Description

- Awarded to ONE CLaSS graduate assistant/intern who has shown outstanding leadership and initiative within their area and continuously uses the graduate experience as an opportunity to develop as a professional and build a better community for Stetson students

Criteria

- Must be a graduate assistant/intern within CLaSS and in good academic standing

- Must be in good standing with the institution

- To be considered for this award, individuals must have served in their current position for at least a semester.

- Has shown outstanding leadership and initiative within his/her area

- Focuses on building a better community for Stetson students

CLaSS Student Employee of the Year

Who can nominate

- Nominations for this category can be submitted by any staff member of Campus Life and Student Success (CLaSS)

Description

- Awarded to ONE student employee that works within CLaSS who has consistently exceeded expectations as an employee and demonstrates initiative as they actively engaged in the development of their position and advancing the departments’ goals

Criteria

- Must be a full-time student at Stetson University

- Must be a student employee within CLaSS that is in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.75

-Must be in good standing with Community Standards

- Demonstrates initiative and is actively engaged in the development of their position and advancing the departments’ goals

Community Impact Award

Who can nominate

- Nominations for this category can be submitted by faculty, staff, or students.

Description

- Awarded to ONE student organization or group which has made significant contributions to the communities surrounding Stetson through service.

Criteria

- The student organization or group nominated for this award must either be a registered organization at Stetson or a student program supported by a department at Stetson.

- Must be in good standing with the Office of Student Governance and Organizations as well as the Office of Community Standards.

- Must demonstrate service to communities outside Stetson.

- Philanthropy may supplement a service opportunity, but is not the focus of this award and will only be considered minimally.

Doyle Elam Carlton's Distinguished Service Leadership Award

Who can nominate

- Nominations for awards in this category can be submitted by faculty, staff, or students.

Description

- The Doyle Elam Carlton’s Distinguished Service Award recognizes a student who has served as a leader by dedicated his or her time to serving others in the Stetson and DeLand Community for the past year. This award represents the honorable work of Doyle Elam Carlton, whose name is reflected on our own Carlton Union Building, a 1909 Stetson graduate and Florida’s governor during the Great Depression. Mr. Carlton was infamous among the Stetson community for his commitment to enhancing cultural, religious and intellectual life. Many people have profound admiration, affection, and gratitude for his great and selfless contributions to the life of the University, his state, and his nation.

Criteria

- Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University

- Has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

- Has stood out as a leader in their service to other through their work with Stetson and the surrounding communities

- Shown a commitment to the enhancement of cultural, religious, and/or intellectual life

- Has not previously received this award

Extraordinary Leader Award

Who can nominate

- Nominations for awards in this category can be submitted by faculty, staff, or students.

Description

- Awarded to ONE student that has demonstrated brilliant leadership qualities through their commitment and dedication to Stetson University and the campus. This student has created or inspired a change initiative within the community and continues to serve as an active agent, inspiring other students to succeed and make a positive impact in the Stetson community.

Criteria

- Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University

- Has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

- Demonstrates brilliant leadership qualities through their commitment and dedication to Stetson University

- Has created or inspired a change initiative within the community

- Serves as an active agent, inspiring other students to succeed and make a positive impact in the Stetson community

- Has not previously received this award

Intern of the Year

Who can nominate

- Nominations for this category can be submitted by Stetson Faculty or Staff Members

Description

- Awarded to ONE student who has completed at least one internship (as defined by the Stetson Academic Internship Policies). The student should have demonstrated achievement of professional, personal and academic skills in a working and learning environment.

Criteria

- Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University

- Have completed at least 1 internship in the past year (Summer 2016-Spring 2017)

- Has a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above

- Has demonstrated reflection on their experience and its connection to their academics

- Demonstrates a dedication to his or her professional development

- Has positively represented Stetson University in a professional setting

Leadership Legacy Award

Who can nominate

- Nominations for awards in this category can be submitted by faculty or staff. Students cannot make nominations in this category.

Description

- Awarded to ONE graduating student that has positively impacted others through their skills as a leader by making a lasting impact on the Stetson community that will continue to support others after their graduation.

Criteria

- Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University

- Has a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above

- Graduating in Spring or Fall of the year the award is received

- Has positively impacted other through their skills as a leader by making a lasting impact on the Stetson community

- Has not previously received this award

Mentor of the Year

Who can nominate

- Nominations for awards in this category can be submitted by faculty, staff, or students.

Description

- Awarded to ONE full-time Stetson staff member within Campus Life and Student Success (CLaSS) who has made a significant investment in the lives of their student and staff. This individual supports the development of students as a mentor, advisor, supervisor, and/or advocate and has invested time in building meaningful relationships with students and staff across Stetson.

Criteria

- Currently serves as a full-time Stetson staff member within Campus Life and Student Success (CLaSS)

- Supports the development of students as a mentor, advisor, supervisor, and/or advocate

- Has invested time in building meaningful relationships with students and staff across Stetson

New Student Leader of the Year Award

Who can nominate

- Nominations for awards in this category can be submitted by faculty, staff, or students.

Description

- Awarded to ONE outstanding First-Year or sophomore student who has demonstrated skill as a student leader, dedication to Stetson and the surrounding community, and potential for future leadership success.

Criteria

- Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University

- Has been at Stetson University for no more than four semesters and has earned a maximum of 60 credit hours

- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above

- Demonstrates leadership and dedication to Stetson and the surrounding community

- Possess characteristics for future leadership success

- Has not previously received this award

Stetson Values Leader Award - Personal Growth

Who can nominate

- Nominations for awards in this category can be submitted by faculty, staff, or students.

Description

- Awarded to ONE outstanding Stetson student that has demonstrated a commitment to Stetson’s Value of Personal Growth in their involvements, leadership, and contributions to the community. Commitment to personal growth includes intercultural competence, self-awareness, religious and spiritual life, and wellness.

Criteria

- Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University

- Has a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above

- Has demonstrated commitment to Stetson’s Value of Personal Growth in their involvements, leadership, and contributions to the community

- Has not previously received this award

Stetson Values Leader Award - Intellectual Development

Who can nominate

- Nominations for awards in this category can be submitted by faculty, staff, or students.

Description

- Awarded to ONE outstanding Stetson student that has demonstrated a commitment to Stetson’s Value of Intellectual Development in their involvements, leadership, and contributions to the community. Commitment to intellectual development includes academic excellence, exploration, inquiry, creativity, integrity, and professionalism.

Criteria

- Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University

- Has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

- Has demonstrated commitment to Stetson’s Value of Intellectual Development in their involvements, leadership and contributions to the community

Stetson Values Leader Award - Global Citizenship

Who can nominate

- Nominations for awards in this category can be submitted by faculty, staff, or students.

Description

- Awarded to ONE outstanding Stetson student that has demonstrated a commitment to Stetson’s Value of Global Citizenship in their involvements, leadership, and contributions to the community. Commitment to personal growth includes Community Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion, Environmental Responsibility, and Social Justice.

Criteria

- Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University

- Has a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above

- Has demonstrated commitment to Stetson’s Value of Global Citizenship in their involvements, leadership, and contributions to the community

Student Advocate Award

Who can nominate

- Nominations for this category can be submitted by faculty, staff, or students.

Description

- Awarded to ONE faculty or staff member who has demonstrated a commitment to the further growth of student leaders by making a significant investment into the lives of Stetson students. This faculty or staff member serves as a positive role model for Stetson Students through their work, advisement of students, collaboration, and leadership.

Criteria

- Must be a full-time or part-time faculty or staff member

- Has demonstrated commitment to the further growth of student leaders by making a significant investment into the lives of Stetson students

Student Organization of the Year

Description

- Awarded to ONE student organization that has excelled through completion of its mission, membership, recruitment, leadership development, participation in programming and has made a consistent contribution to student life at Stetson University.

- The student organization or group nominated for this award must either be a registered organization at Stetson or a student program supported by a department at Stetson.

- The Student Organization or group must currently be in good standing with the Office of Student Governance and Organizations as well as the Office of Community Standards

- Supports the overall mission and vision of Campus Life and Student Success

- Excelled through completion of its mission, membership, recruitment, leadership development, participation in programming

Student Program of the Year

Who can nominate

- Nominations for this category can be submitted by faculty, staff, or students.

Description

- Awarded to ONE group of students who developed and sponsored a program or an event that has enriched the academic and/or co-curricular lives of Stetson University students.

Criteria

- The student organization or group nominated for this award must either be a registered organization at Stetson or a student program supported by a department at Stetson.

- The Student Organization or group must currently be in good standing with the Office of Student Governance and Organizations as well as the Office of Community Standards

- Due to the timeline, individuals may nominate programs/event organizations or student groups have completed between April 2016 and March 2017.

- Has enriched the academic and/or co-curricular lives of Stetson University students through the development and sponsorship of a program or event

Vibrant Leader Award

Who can nominate

- Nominations for awards in this category can be submitted by faculty, staff, or students.

Description

- Awarded to ONE outstanding Stetson student that has demonstrated vibrancy throughout their leadership. This award is given to a student who has facilitated action within the Stetson community, has embodied Stetson spirit in their choices and leadership and has inspired passion in their fellow Hatters.

Criteria

- Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University

- Has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

- Demonstrates vibrancy as a student leader through action, spirit, and passion

- Has not previously received this award
