Advisor of the Year – Student Organization

Who can nominate

  • Nominations for this category can be submitted by faculty, staff or students.

Description

  • Awarded to one advisor of a student organization at Stetson University who demonstrates outstanding commitment and dedication to the advising and advancement of the student organization that they advise. This advisor has excelled at supporting the mission of the student organization and is continuously engaged in the organization's activities and development.

Criteria

  • The recipient must be a full-time or part-time faculty or staff person.
  • The organization that this faculty or staff member advises must be currently registered as a student organization with Stetson University and in good standing with Student Development and Campus Vibrancy, as well as the Office of Community Standards.
  • The recipient supports the mission of the student organization they advise and is continuously engaged in its activities and development.
  • Recipients can only be awarded this award once every four years.

Description

  • Awarded to one advisor of a Peer Leader group at Stetson University who demonstrates outstanding commitment and dedication to the advising and advancement of their student group. This advisor has excelled at supporting the mission of the Peer Leader group they advise and is continuously engaged in the organization's activities and development.

Agents of Change – Student Organization

  • Awarded to one student organization which has made significant contributions by utilizing advocacy and activism to create positive change at Stetson University.

Criteria

  • The student organization that receives this award must be currently registered as a student organization with Stetson University and in good standing with Student Development and Campus Vibrancy, as well as the Office of Community Standards.
  • The student organization that receives this award must support the overall mission and vision of Stetson's commitment to diversity, justice, inclusion, and equity.
  • The student organization that receives this award must demonstrate commitment to address the needs of underrepresented populations, social justice, access to resources, and/or any inclusive focused initiatives.
  • The student organization that receives this award must utilize education, awareness, promotion and/or an avenue that is an agent of change at Stetson University.
  • Recipients of this award can only receive this award once every three years.

  • The student organization that receives this award must demonstrate the significant impact that they made on the overall Stetson community throughout this academic year.
  • The student organization that receives this award must demonstrate how the work they did this year to impact the campus community was different than previous year and how it will leave a lasting impact in future years on the Stetson community.
  • Recipients of this award can only receive this award once every three years.

Campus Experience – Peer Leader Group

Description

  • Awarded to one Peer Leader group which has made significant contributions to leave a lasting impact on the overall campus experience at Stetson University.

  • Nominations for this category can be submitted by full-time staff of Campus Life and Student Success (CLaSS).

Description

  • Awarded to one CLaSS graduate assistant/intern who has shown outstanding leadership and initiative within their area and continuously uses the graduate experience as an opportunity to develop as a professional and build a better community for Stetson students.

Criteria

  • Must be a graduate assistant/intern within CLaSS and in good academic standing.
  • Must be in good standing with the institution.
  • To be considered for this award, individuals must have served in their current position for at least a semester.
  • Has shown outstanding leadership and initiative within their area.
  • Focuses on building a better community for Stetson students.

Community Impact Award – Student Organization

Who can nominate

Description

  • Awarded to one student organization that has made significant contributions to the communities surrounding Stetson through service or philanthropy.

Criteria

  • The student organization that receives this award must be currently registered as a student organization with Stetson University and in good standing with Student Development and Campus Vibrancy, as well as the Office of Community Standards.
  • Must demonstrate purposeful support to communities outside of Stetson University during the current academic year.
  • Significant contributions to the communities surrounding Stetson can be in the form of service or philanthropy.
  • Recipients of this award can only receive this award once every three years.

Description

  • The Doyle Elam Carlton's Distinguished Service Award recognizes a student who has served as a leader by dedicated their time to serving others in the Stetson and DeLand Community for the past year. This award represents the honorable work of Doyle Elam Carlton, whose name is reflected on our own Carlton Union Building, a 1909 Stetson graduate and Florida's governor during the Great Depression. Mr. Carlton was infamous among the Stetson community for his commitment to enhancing cultural, religious and intellectual life. Many people have profound admiration, affection, and gratitude for his great and selfless contributions to the life of the University, his state, and his nation.

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University.
  • Has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Has stood out as a leader in their service to others through their work with Stetson and the surrounding communities.
  • Shown a commitment to the enhancement of cultural, religious, and/or intellectual life.
  • Has not previously received this award.

Who can nominate

Description

  • Awarded to one student that has demonstrated brilliant leadership qualities through their commitment and dedication to Stetson University and the campus. This student has created or inspired a change initiative within the community and continues to serve as an active agent, inspiring other students to succeed and make a positive impact in the Stetson community.

Criteria

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University.
  • Has a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Demonstrates brilliant leadership qualities through their commitment and dedication to Stetson University.
  • Has created or inspired a change initiative within the community.
  • Serves as an active agent, inspiring other students to succeed and make a positive impact in the Stetson community.
  • Has not previously received this award.

  • Awarded to one student organization which has made significant contributions to development of community within their organization.

Criteria

  • The student organization that receives this award must be currently registered as a student organization with Stetson University and in good standing with Student Development and Campus Vibrancy, as well as the Office of Community Standards.
  • The student organization that receives this award must demonstrate purposeful growth and development of their members around the mission of their organization.
  • The student organization that receives this award must demonstrate how they went above and beyond to foster a sense of community within their members even throughout the different needs of their members.
  • Recipients of this award can only receive this award once every three years.

Description

  • Awarded to one student who has completed at least one internship. The student should have demonstrated achievement of professional, personal, and academic skills in a working and learning environment.

Criteria

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University.
  • Have completed at least one internship in the past year (Summer 2023-Spring 2024).
  • Has a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Has demonstrated reflection on their experience and its connection to their academics.
  • Demonstrates a dedication to their professional development.
  • Has positively represented Stetson University in a professional setting.

Description

  • Awarded to one graduating student that has positively impacted others through their skills as a leader by making a lasting impact on the Stetson community that will continue to support others after their graduation.

Criteria

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University.
  • Has a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Graduating in spring or fall of the year the award is received.
  • Has positively impacted other through their skills as a leader by making a lasting impact on the Stetson community.
  • Has not previously received this award.

Description

  • Awarded to one outstanding first-year or sophomore student who has demonstrated skill as a student leader, dedication to Stetson and the surrounding community and potential for future leadership success.

Criteria

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Stetson University.
  • Has been at Stetson University for no more than four semesters and has earned a maximum of 60 credit hours.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above.
  • Demonstrates leadership and dedication to Stetson and the surrounding community.
  • Possess characteristics for future leadership success.
  • Has not previously received this award.

President of the Year – Student Organization

  • Awarded to one outstanding Stetson student that has demonstrated outstanding leadership in their role as president (or equivalent) of a student organization at Stetson University.

  • Has a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • The student organization that this student leads must be currently registered as a student organization with Stetson University and in good standing with Student Development and Campus Vibrancy, as well as the Office of Community Standards.
  • The recipient of this award must have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their role as president (or equivalent) of a student organization where they have gone above and beyond to support the mission of their organization within this academic year.

  • Awarded to one outstanding Stetson student that has demonstrated a commitment to Stetson's Value of Global Citizenship in their involvements, leadership, and contributions to the community. Commitment to personal growth includes Community Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion, Environmental Responsibility and Social Justice.

  • Eligible RSO must be a Level three or four in the Steps to Success Program.

  • Awarded to a Peer Leader group that has excelled in the accomplishment of its goals, leadership of peers in the Stetson community and creating a lasting impact on the overall community throughout the academic year.

  • The Peer Leader group that receives this award must be recognized as a Peer Leader group with Stetson University through the Student Leadership Advisory Board (SLAB) and in good standing with Campus Life and Student Success.
  • Recipients of this award will demonstrate how their work throughout the year directly connections to the goals of the Peer Leader group, how the Peer Leader group demonstrated outstanding leadership when leading their peers in the campus community, and how they Peer Leader group has left a lasting impact on the community throughout this academic year.
  • With Peer Leadership being focused on peers leading peers, recipients of this award will have gone above and beyond to support their peers in the Stetson community throughout this academic year.
  • Recipients of this award can only receive this award once every three years.

Student Program of the Year - Student Organization

  • Awarded to a student organization who developed and facilitated a program or event that has enriched the academic and/or co-curricular lives of Stetson University students.

  • The student organization that receives this award must be currently registered as a student organization with Stetson University and in good standing with Student Development and Campus Vibrancy, as well as the Office of Community Standards.
  • The program must have had open access to all Stetson students and geared toward students.
  • Has enriched the academic and/or co-curricular lives of Stetson University students through the development and facilitation of the program.
  • Individuals may nominate programs that were completed between April 2023 and March 2024.
  • Recipients of this award can only receive this award once every three years.

  • Individuals may nominate programs that were completed between April 2023 and March 2024.
