Hatter Saturday Breakout Session Options

During Hatter Saturday, students and their guests will have the opportunity to attend three breakout sessions. Alternatively, attendees may choose to connect and engage with faculty during the Academic Showcase, available from 10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

School of Business: Experiential Learning Requirement | Lynn Business Center, Room 108
Stetson’s School of Business Administration requires all students to complete two experiential learning requirements to graduate. Learn about all of the opportunities that you will have to gain real-life experience, right now.

We Got Credit, How ‘Bout You? | Carlton Union Building, Stetson Room
At Stetson, we know that understanding how your pre-college and transfer credits are brought into a university is sometimes tricky. Learn more about liberal arts learning, the Stetson curriculum and how your credit applies to your degree at Stetson. This session will be helpful for both first-time-in-college students and transfer students.

Get in the Game: A Comprehensive Depiction of Sport Programs | Carlton Union Building, Lee’s Garage
Come explore how Sport Programs provides an opportunity for students to live balanced lives academically, athletically and socially. During this session, presenters will provide an in-depth description of Intramurals and Club Sports, explain how to get involved and discuss the benefits of each program as a participant and potential employee.

Lessons From Abroad | Sage Hall, Room 222
World Outreach, Research, Learning and Development: Join current Hatters who have had the opportunity to trek across the globe as they share their experiences and advice about studying, researching and learning away from Stetson.

5 Point Parent Plan | Brown Hall, Room 140
Session for Parents: Are you and your Hatter ready for college? This session will help parents make sure they have a plan with their student on shared expectations around items like finances, communication, safety and academics. Come with your questions and leave with a plan.

10:15-11 a.m.

Music for a Lifetime | McMahan Hall, Feasel (Room 111)
Whether you're a music major with a desire to teach and perform daily, or you just love to play an instrument, sing or write your own music, the School of Music can help you build upon your skills. In this session, learn how music classes, lessons, and ensembles provide academic credit towards graduation and enrich your weekly college experience no matter what your major is.

Army ROTC Briefing | Sage Hall, Room 257
Join Lt. Col (Ret.) Patrick Wright to meet and mingle with current and other future cadets and learn about the benefits of joining the top Army ROTC program in the Southeast and one of the largest and most successful programs in the country. You may attend Army ROTC classes with no obligation to sign up for military service.

Getting Involved | Carlton Union Building, Lee’s Garage
Explore the many ways to get involved at Stetson! In this session, you will learn about what getting involved looks like, how to navigate Stetson's online student organization platform, and how to find out what is happening on campus daily.

Head + Heart = Hustle | Brown Hall, Room 140
Unsure of what you want to be when you grow up? In this workshop, you will identify the work that aligns with your heart (the issues that matter most to you) and your head (the unique gifts you can contribute). This workshop will help students identify career paths that are right for them and good for the world.

WISE | Sage Hall, Room 222
The purpose of the WISE Program is to support the transition process from high school to Stetson, for first-year students of color, or those who may identify as underrepresented, marginalized, and/or under-resourced. The WISE Program aims to build a community of support through strengths-based leadership development and peer mentorship.

Multicultural Student Leadership | Sage Hall, Room 222
Learn about the various ways students can be engaged on campus as a student leaders, even during their first year and throughout their time at Stetson. Being involved with one of the many student organizations connected to the Cross-Cultural Center and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion is not only a great way to promote diversity and inclusion, but also build your home away from home.

More Than Just a Schedule: What You Can Expect From Your Advising Experience | Carlton Union Building, Stetson Room
Advising at Stetson encompasses schedules, major exploration and mentorship. Learn about Stetson’s unique advising model, which includes summer advising, faculty advising and supplemental advising. Join us for an open dialogue on what students can expect from their advising experience. We will also shed light on resources available within Academic Success, such as tutoring, success coaching, and supplemental and discovery advising.

How Do You Rec? Explore Fitness and Outdoor Adventure Opportunities | Brown Hall, Room 140
Wellness and Recreation is often considered “the fun department,” and with good reason. Much of what makes our efforts worth engaging with is the opportunity to exercise, recreate, relax and play. In this session, we will discuss the many areas of Wellness and Recreation that students enjoy. If you have an affinity for fitness or outdoor recreation, want to learn more about the department or just be involved, join us!

Safety at Stetson | Sage Hall, Room 257
Our No. 1 priority on campus is safety. This session will introduce you to Stetson’s Public Safety Team and how our public safety officers support our campus.
