Why I Chose Stetson:
I was led here by providence, and I know this is where I'm supposed to be! I love our beautiful campus and vibrant community.
Involvements on Campus:
Fellowship of Christian Athletes - Discipleship Coordinator, Writing Center - Tutor, Philosophy Club, Baptist Collegiate Fellowship, Student Ambassadors, Stetson's Center for Public Opinion Research (CPOR) - Pollster
What I Like to Do on Weekends:
On the weekends I love to go out with friends shopping, eating, thrifting, and to church! I love connecting with people and God. Fun can be found on campus as well, there's always some kind of event going on! My freshman year my roommate and I took so many walks around campus. Walks around campus are like free therapy because it's so serene. Other than that, I like using weekends to catch up on sleep and homework.
My Favorite Class at Stetson:
One of my many favorite classes at Stetson was my FSEM that I took with Dr. Monika Kurlander. It was Left Wing Authoritarianism: Stalin, Mao, Castro. She truly made the class interesting, especially because she grew up in Poland during communism. It was so cool when she added her own insight and described her experiences. I grew so much as a writer under Dr. Kurlander's tutelage. Ironically, I got a C on my first paper for that class, and it only inspired me to work harder. She was patient with me, and we worked on my papers together. The more I learned the better I got, and eventually, my final paper was an A, with an overall A in the class! Plus, a lot of what I learned in her class I find in classes that I take for my major and minors.
Advice to Prospective Students:
Take your time and carefully consider each college in your lineup. Don't let anyone pressure you to choose because at the end of the day, you're the one who has to make/live with your decision on where you will attend. Take it all in, this is the first time that you've done anything like this before. Enjoy every moment, choosing where to go is both thrilling and tormenting. Ask all your questions, and once you become a college student don't expect everything to go perfectly because it won't. There will be late nights, bad professors, and other difficult experiences. Yet there will also be new lifelong friends, outstanding professors, new core memories, and opportunities for growth! :)
Favorite Place on Campus:
Hands down the duPont-Ball Library, I like the personal desks on the first floor by the windows. I knew I loved it my first year, some things never change because I'm still there pretty much every day. I especially love studying in the library until it closes over the weekends. Plus, I work at the writing center as a tutor so I'm there anyways! It all works out. <3
