Tips for Successful Online Meetings

  • Use a wired internet connection whenever possible
  • Make sure your laptop is plugged in with the power adapter
  • Ask everyone to mute their microphones to avoid adding extra noise during a class or meeting
  • Ask attendees to turn off their cameras to make it easier on the attendee(s) with poor internet access to see and hear the person presenting
  • Default to the Chrome browser, followed by Firefox
  • Allow Chrome to access your microphone even if you're not presenting; some browsers will not play audio unless microphone access is allowed
  • Use our preferred VC solutions: Microsoft Teams or Blue Jeans (via Media Services) for much larger groups
