Intellectual Property Law Society

About

The Intellectual Property Law Society is dedicated to educating all students about the various disciplines of, and opportunities to practice, intellectual property law. IPLS sponsors lectures throughout the year by professors and practicing attorneys on a variety of intellectual property issues, ranging from the prosecution of biotechnology patents to the protection of corporate trade secrets.

IPLS assists students interested in entering the practice of intellectual property law by hosting meet and greet sessions with practicing attorneys and the Division of Patents and Licensing of the University of South Florida, as well as other academic, legal, and corporate entities.

IPLS also provides a forum for students, faculty and practicing attorneys to discuss the fields of intellectual property law, current and future educational opportunities available in the area of patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyrights, unfair competition, and other intellectual property.

Finally, IPLS facilitates practical, internships, and other programs for students to develop background and experience in the practice of intellectual property law. In doing so, IPLS provides community service both to the Stetson University College of Law and to the surrounding community.

The Intellectual Property Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, in partnership with the Intellectual Property Law Society of Stetson University College of Law, has established an online threaded discussion board where practitioners in the Tampa Bay area may post questions and comments regarding intellectual property law topics.
