LLM in Elder Law
Master of Laws | Online | Curriculum Overview | Meet the Faculty
As the nation's elder population rises, so has the need for experts in the specialized field of elder law. Stetson Law's LLM in Elder Law program offers attorneys a convenient online curriculum from which students can advance their legal education without relocating or interrupting their professional careers.
Why LLM in Elder Law at Stetson University?
A traditional Juris Doctor degree, while valuable for those who wish to serve institutions of higher education as in-house or external counsel, does not meet the needs of many professionals in higher education seeking advanced degrees and greater competencies in law and higher education policy. A traditional JD both under-trains and over- trains with respect to certain aspects of the law that would be most valuable to this population.
The Master of Jurisprudence in Higher Education Law & Policy degree will be comprised of innovative, short courses designed for working professionals. Almost all classes will be held online; students will have the opportunity to attend the Annual National Conference on Law & Higher Education in Clearwater Beach, FL as part of a 2-credit hour class.
The MJur in Higher Education Law & Policy:
- Is tailored for working professionals, with evening and weekend classes and some asynchronous pre-recorded classes.
- Offers instruction almost exclusively online.
- Is sequenced with very little overlap in courses; students will mostly take one class at a time.
- Is comprised of short, digestible courses ranging from 1/2-credit to 2-credit hour courses.
- Is able to be completed in 24 months.
- Will offer cutting-edge instruction by the nation’s top higher education law scholars and practitioners.
