These resources were developed based on leadership engagement coaching that has helped our students connect to campus involvement throughout their college experience.

Domain: Relationship Building

People exceptionally talented in the Includer theme accept others. They show awareness of those who feel left out and make an effort to include them.

Extracurriculars they may excel in:

  • Join an organization and take on a role to help connect members to each other so they feel interconnect and included within the organization
  • Look to join a peer mentorship program so you can find personal connections with your peers

Types of groups that support this Strength:

  • Look for groups that encourage new members to connect deeply with each other and allow you to have a time to get to know and support the inclusion of others.
  • Avoid groups that are known to be cliques and that segregate others for their differences.

Domain: Relationship Building

People exceptionally talented in the Individualization theme are intrigued with the unique qualities of each person. They have a gift for figuring out how different people can work together productively.

Extracurriculars they may excel in:

  • Look for personal mentorship opportunities and this can be a mentor or have a mentor. People with Individualization will thrive with or as a mentor because of the personal support that will help them in their involvement and engagement in college.
  • Look for interpersonal committees or organizations where you can meet diverse groups of people.

Types of groups that support this Strength:

  • Surround yourself with individuals who appreciate your individuality and allow you to utilize it often.
  • Look for a group that encourages discussions and learning from your peers.
  • Meet and observe new/different types of people. People with individuality love to continually learn and grow from the people around them.

Domain: Strategic Thinking

People exceptionally talented in the Input theme have a need to collect and archive. They may accumulate information, ideas, artifacts or even relationships.

Extracurriculars they may excel in:

  • Organizations that allow you to further your learning in passion areas

Types of groups that support this Strength:

  • Groups that align with topics that you have been personally interested in, such as baking, soccer, speech/debate, government, etc
  • Groups that allow you to expand on areas that you feel like you need to learn more about

Domain: Strategic Thinking

People exceptionally talented in the Intellection theme are characterized by their intellectual activity. They are introspective and appreciate intellectual discussions.

Extracurriculars they may excel in:

  • Join an organization that excites your passions and allows you to continue to grow experiences that you have previous found interest in
  • Use writing as a tool to organize and integrate your thoughts. Possibly take notes on a few organizations that you explore on joining
  • Attend conferences, workshops, or events on subjects you feel strongly about

Types of groups that support this Strength:

  • Look for groups of people with the same passions as you and the willingness to debate/have intellectual conversation
  • Surround yourself with individuals who understand you may need time to process ideas and concepts.

Domain: Strategic Thinking

People exceptionally talented in the Learner theme have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. The process of learning, rather than the outcome, excites them.

Extracurriculars they may excel in:

  • Look for organizations that will allow you to continue to learn about your passions and interests. If you are passionate about leader, look for organizations that will allow you to talk to leaders and gain hands on experience in leadership.
  • Seek involvement opportunities that will allow you to gain hands on learning opportunities. This may include internships, on campus jobs, leadership roles, volunteer opportunities, and mentorship roles.

  • You will enjoy opportunities that will allow you to have conversations or discussion about what you have learned about
  • Find groups that highlight the importance of learning and value it as much as you

Domain: Influencing

People exceptionally talented in the Maximizer theme focus on strengths as a way to stimulate personal and group excellence. They seek to transform something strong into something superb.

Extracurriculars they may excel in:

  • Look for opportunities to be a mentor. You will value the opportunity to give feedback to others to you can help them go from being good to being great.
  • Look for opportunities to assist professors or staff in research, internships, or special projects

Types of groups that support this Strength:

  • Be in a group that is mission-driven and very focused on being better than the rest
  • Join a group that could use assistance in development of its individuals and almost sees you as a consultant. Maybe you specifically come in to help them fix their budget or run their first event on campus.

People exceptionally talented in the Positivity theme have contagious enthusiasm. They are upbeat and can get others excited about what they are going to do.

  • Join clubs or organizations that are high energy and known for exciting others within the organization
  • Be a part of a team that creates a positive impact in outside communities

  • Join groups that allow you to share your positive energy and encourage others to share their positive energy.
  • Be a part of an organization that values positivity and avoids negative energy and drama.

People exceptionally talented in the Relator theme enjoy close relationships with others. They find deep satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal.

Extracurriculars they may excel in:

  • Become involved in an organization whose main purpose is building deep relationships around topics that you are passionate about
  • Volunteer for an organization that you are passionate about but will allow you to break into small groups so you will have time to deeply get to know the members of the organization to the friends you make will last a lifetime

  • Join a organization filled with people that you aspire to be like, that way you will connect with students and friends that will help you grow into the student that you want to be like

People exceptionally talented in the Responsibility theme take psychological ownership of what they say they will do. They are committed to stable values such as honesty and loyalty.

Extracurriculars they may excel in:

  • Take on an internship, a job, or an involvement that connects to career goals that you have. That way, when you achieve the goals that your boss provides you, you will feel deeply satisfied and it will help you build up your resume.
  • Be a part of an organization that has the same values as you

Types of groups that support this Strength:

  • Be in a group in which you can start to gain leadership experience. Because of your responsibility, your peers will be very impressed with your ability to follow through with tasks they ask you to complete and you will gain great skills from the leadership role.
  • Allow members to know that you love to have a defined role because it helps you know what you need to get done for the organization

People exceptionally talented in the Restorative theme are adept at dealing with problems. They are good at figuring out what is wrong and resolving it.

Extracurriculars they may excel in:

  • Join service-based organizations or philanthropy organizations. You will thrive in these organizations because you will be able to help others or help a cause through service, through event planning, or through raising money for a cause that is important to you.
  • Join a club that tackles social issues on campus or in the local community

  • Find organizations that allow you to be around individuals who may need your assistance in solving problems. These problems may be situations such as how to deal with rain during an event, how to deal with conflict between members, respecting the diverse needs of students, or much more.

People exceptionally talented in the Woo theme love the challenge of meeting new people and winning them over. They derive satisfaction from breaking the ice and making a connection with someone.

  • An organization or involvement opportunity that allows you to challenge yourself and others to meet new people and strive to reach a common goal.
  • Select a group that allows you to be people-oriented and potentially builds rapport with your peers.
  • Get involved with something that allows you to with a wide variety of people throughout the day will excite you

  • Be a part of a group that allows you to constantly meet new people
  • Go to events on campus that allow you to meet new people on campus, potentially grab coffee with a different person each week, and make sure that you are constantly making new connections
